If they removed it, then that would be another example of somewhat neglecting forge. The difference between safe havens and player trait zones is that safe havens only work for humans. That's why I want them to return, because I can think of plenty ways to use them. The fact that they weren't very popular outside of customs makes me agree with you though: I'm afraid they won't be present.

Holy crap. Shortly after 1:20 there's a clip where the guy throws the ball at an enemy as they round the corner, and since catching is automatic they pick it up. I'd never even thought of that, but it could be seriously useful for killing an opponent in a pinch. Someone rushing you when you've got the ball? Chuck it at them and render them unable to shoot. Even if only for a second until they drop/throw it back, it's gonna be a potentially useful second.

That's actually rather awesome. I'm not a fan of auto-pickup of objectives for most purposes, but for THAT purpose, I'm in.

I don't need to chill, because I'm not worked up. I'm posting my opinions about this game on a message board. There are certainly about a hundred more important
    things in life.

This has nothing to do with remakes - I don't plan to remake any of my own maps or anyone else's. Actually if you look at my forge history I've never remade anything. It's more the fact that I felt the combination of elements we had in Reach - so many crazy custom gametypes, the custom power-up, and forge - combined to make something with almost limitless potential (except for framerate lag - that was the only real limitation, though it was a significant one). In H4 I think it was a mistake for them to take all that unrealized potential away and substitute things that are far less imaginative. Flood infection will probably be cooler and better than default matchmaking infection, but as it stands now it won't be even a tenth as good for making minigames; and there's never been a better minigame gametype than insane. That doesn't ruin the game single-handedly of course, but it's a needless loss. They only took it out because they didn't want to devote a few dev hours to making sure it worked OK in H4. That's frustrating to me as a forger and as a fan of (good) minigames.

In fact, in general as a forger and creative type, I don't feel like 343 really gets creativity. Forge is going to be marginally better than Reach as a whole, it looks like, but all the things they could have done to really grant creative control to players, they didn't do. In fact in many such respects they seem to have gone backwards - took out the only useful FX, made the lights have an even smaller area of effect, etc. The three forge environments are nice but we'll be as sick of them in a month as we were of Forge World, and then where are we? The new object skins are better-looking and more functional, but the tradeoff is that maps are probably going to look even more alike than they do now; at least in Reach you could make your map out of 90% some weird, underused texture and end up with something distinctive. New skins are more functional but less personal. I don't know, I just wish 343 (and console developers in general) would devote more time to removing shackles than clapping them on us.

Potentially - one thing I've liked all along is objective-throwing. I think it has potential to improve objective play AND to make for some weird minigames, like that football game I've dreamed of but been unable to ever make.

Hmm, see? Maybe there is minigame potential, just with other gametypes this time. I still doubt that it is as useful as infection was.. But still, a step forward. I have read somenthing about a patch too. It would add the option to drop an objective, disable sprint and added custom options. I hope it is true.

This one goes out to chrs in particular:

My experience so far is limited obviously (only 2 games under my belt), but so far the BR seems much more generous than the DMR (which I didn't expect to be the case). Watching kill cams is really telling of how badly people are sweeping with it and still getting 5 shots. That said, the DMR kills so quickly and efficiently that this will probably go some way to helping keep the BR a viable alternative. The majority of people so far are still using it, not sure if that's force of habit or preference.

I just was watching a video of Airsoftxx, Mr pokephile. And someone asked if there was race. This is what he said.
"Race is not included as a pre-built gametype in Halo 4. 343 Removed it because they believe that it does not add to the "UNSC Infinity Experience" and is not a "Believable Simulation"
Its up to the community to work around that using King of the Hill"
Man.. Do they think grifball is an believable situation? I see race more being a believable situation, driving skill set..

REM. When I saw the forge demo, the player trait zones had a team option. If I'm thinking correctly, then you can have the zones apply to selective groups (can someone with a copy of the game check that out?)

If you can make trait zones apply to specific teams, I have such a good idea for making a mini game :D

I hope that's not true (the bolded part). It's just incredibly dumb. Their priorities would have to be badly out of whack to let a concern like that drive their gametype decisions. Also, KOTH is not an adequate substitute for race; unless they've dramatically changed how the gametype works, you can't make race out of it at all, just a vague approximation in which whoever gets an early lead will probably win.

Unfortunately that may mean nothing. All forge objects in Reach had a team setting, but that didn't mean only that team could use them or was affected by them; only some items were actually team-specific in any way.

I noticed that,I thought we he was charging that Promethean rocket launcher and killed himself, Expecting a lot of hot potato/dodge ball gameplay in CQC.

Agreed its really stupid, But that's there reasoning behind most of there decisions from the get go they have been saying some bs about "Trying to incorporate the multiplayer into the campaign so there not two separate features but a game as a whole" something like that.

True that.. I dont think they changed KOTH in a way that people actually are able to modify the gametype to an working race variant. I dont think they changed it at all. But i really do believe they got rid of race, man ducain23 is going to be pissed.. :[ He is the halo race master, at least for me he is. Race tracks can still be made, but we dont have the counting system, or an system at all. So there is really no competetive feel, or an race feel at all. You are just driving around then..

I remember the whole "multiplayer now integrates into the campaign" thing, but I didn't think that would ever be allowed to drive decisions about whether fun, popular gametypes live or die. Not enough facepalm images exist in the world for that. Multiplayer in Halo has never really made a lick of sense; hopefully they won't be basing all future decisions about it on a completely questionable philosophy where fun takes a backseat to some misguided attachment to "realism" (and there aren't enough sarcastic quotes to throw around that last word, by the way).

Halo waypoint already set-up challenges for Halo 4, like in Reach. I like the monthly one.
"To the victor go the spoils"
Win 117 matchmaking War Games matches.

    Edited by merge:

And the armor list on waypoint is pretty clear, they look awesome : Armor Types:Armor Types Halo Official Site
Look at MARK VI, awesome. But im afraid many master chiefs will appear in Matchmaking.
The launch events are awesome, i wish there was somenthing like that in my country. Would love to see the warthog and master chief, especially after watching FUD.

Nutty, coming from Halo 3 to Reach all the mini game forgers thought mini games were dead. Loss of equipment, loss of chopper/hornet, loss of VIP, loss of certain infection options, certain piece physics combined with destruct able grav lift for switches. The list is on the same level as.the losses from Reach to H4 but people will use the new things like dominion, trait zones, grab volumes, ordinance drops, etc to make new stuff. The Insane game type wasn't in Reach by default so who knows it will likely make an appearance on 4. One thing I'm confident in is that 343 will have far better post launch support than Bungie did. If you want to wait for that then that makes sense but I can tell you from watching the entire weekend of MLG Dallas you won't be disappointed to play this game.
