Was it really too much to expect that most stuff possible in reach would be possible in H4? I only recall a few things we lost and there was plenty to make up for it.
Please people. Yes it sucks that Invasion, Insane and some other gametypes are not there anymore (Im pretty sure that race is) But we have to be more creative with the new gametypes. Im sure we can work somenthing out, i see alot of posibilities with Dominion, or even Extraction. I mean they gave us so much new things.. We have to move on with that, and not stick with the old forever. (The mantis, shade turret looks badass, containers, pallets, trait zones, ordnance drops, magnets, the flood, the ton of new weaponary, custom armor options, new forge items on every map, lighting system, sprint as default, new forge areas etc.) One thing i do dislike is that (even though it looks pretty good) when they were talking about the second vehicle, they ment the shade turret.. And i,ve read that probally after some weeks in halo 4, some patches come out, including the option to drop your objective, and to turn off sprint. Only in customs though)
You can't be creative if they don't give you a good base to start off. Infection was the primary gamemode for 90% of minigames.
So what? I mean really, everything i just came up with. Well, ok then no "minigames" With all these other things, new unique features will come up and evolve.
The issue I find is that knowing that Infection was used for things besides straight-up infection, 343 made a new gametype that only really worked for straight-up infection. I do understand that we are getting tons of new things, but I don't see a reason to take away the old things. Ex: removing powerups on-map.
Disagreed, that's too easy. "Oh, they removed Slayer? Oh well, let's just play Flood all the time now." (just an example) Minigames are a huge part of custom gaming, and 343i should've known that. I hope they'll give back the classic gametypes like Race, VIP, Insane and the old options of Infection soon enough, because this is not going to persuade new coming Halo players to play custom games. Same for Forge, but I don't think they'll change that anyway.
I would stick with old if 343i didn't screw up reach, But Reach shade turret>4 shade turret, Custom powerups>trait zones, Precision movement>magnets, Falcon+Revenant>mantis, Infected weapon changing>Flooded infection, New forge items at the cost of losing forge items, Sprint as default is a negative, New forge areas(besides skybox looks worse). (random numbers to make a point)If Reach was 100 the stuff that added had value of 5 and stuff that was taken away had value of 50. 100+5-50=55, Can't tell us to focus on +5 and say be more appreciative where getting new things while blissfully ignoring the losses. Well technically the shade turret isn't anything new it was forgeable in reach, But only image I could find about the new shade turret was this and this looks like a horrible replacement for the Halo reach shade turret, At least the Reach one gave you cover since you are stationary target Halo 4: Reach one:
something kinda annoying with oddball. When the enemy team has the ball there are two waypoints on the ball carrier. One saying Kill and then the players name, and the second one with a time on it and then the word kill. Also when you have the ball you still have a waypoint on your screen saying escort. Kind of a stupid redundancy that they should not have put in to be honest. EDIT: One waypoint is stuck to the ball the other is on the player carying it and the time on the ball one shows how much time before it resets.
I didn't know they removed both custom power-ups and the insane gametype. I can't even believe I'm saying this, but I am seriously considering not buying this game. If so, it would be the first Halo I haven't played non-stop for its entire life cycle. The thing is, I would probably still enjoy playing campaign a time or two, and I will likely still enjoy matchmaking despite my beef with some of the things they've done; but I spent so much time in Reach forging, and in most respects forge in this game is a complete letdown. I think the only thing that still has me on the fence is framerate. If it ends up confirmed that you can make ambitious maps without encountering the old FRL nightmares, I might still be in.
You guys are over-reacting. No lie. This is the most fun I've had with Halo since Halo 3 was in it's prime. Get over what isn't there anymore, play the game for what it is and create new things to love. The tools are there.
Exactly. I have been hearing nothing but complaints. Without even having the game. Cant we look at the new things, the good things for a change. We are only talking about what was better in reach, well get over it, it wont come back unless they say so.
i dont even have the game and thats how i feel just from seeing videos i think this game will be great, and to think literally all of these things werent present in halo 2 (no forge, no custom infection, no cpu) and that game was still ridiculously fun, and just because we've experienced the things we did in reach, it makes a game without them bad?
Are they? Please list them. I'm being quite serious - I've been eagerly reading this thread and watching all the pre-Halo 4 hype stuff for months now, and except for a few interesting little things like trait zones I'm at a loss for what this game brings to the table, if you're a forger interested in mini-games and such, and not particularly interested in Infinity Slayer. I don't really even understand the argument you're making, actually. This game may be fun for lots of people but they've removed a huge chunk of what I loved about all the previous Halo games, particularly Reach (problematic as it was). When I say I'm thinking of not buying the game, I don't mean that I now hate Halo. What I mean is that this doesn't resemble the same game to me, at least not in the ways that interest me. I really don't see the potential of the new gametypes as being on nearly the same level as insane, the old infection, race, or custom power-ups. When you consider the minigames I made in Reach, none of them would be possible now. None. That's crazy to me. I understand cutting the fat and all that, but why did 343 remove SO MUCH from this game? Especially minor things like gametypes and power-ups that involve very little programming? It's possible that some of this stuff is coming back eventually via DLC or playlist updates, I realize. But I'm starting to feel like this is a developer that simply does not care about the part of the Halo experience I love best. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Why should I just "get over it" when the game costs $60? Bear in mind I'm not trying to talk YOU or anyone else out of buying the game. I'm expressing my own personal feelings about it right now. People here are a little too invested in the success of a video game if that really bothers you.
Guys, the multiplayer is so much fun. So aspects of forge aren't there, but we'll still create awesome things.
