District 38 Part 1 & District 38 Part 2 Created by Cassel Recommended Gametypes: Evacuate D.38 Recommended Players: 8-16 Hey there ladies and gents, we're here to bring you another amazing infection map, hot on the heels of our Hub of the Dead competition. This map, District 38, is brought to you by Cassel. Before I go any further, let me explain: District 38 is technically two maps. The second map is designed to pick up exactly where the first map left off and continue the story and gameplay of the first. So, while this is technically two maps, we're considering it one grand map for the purposes of our feature system. District 38 is a gorgeously redesigned jaunt through Breakneck, and already aesthetically detailed map. The map has a very distinct atmosphere, fitting perfectly with the theme of decay and zombies, that really makes it stand out. Both parts of the map have some seamless area to area transitions, and it's amazing to see how the play-space is designed around the already existing map geometry. What's more, not only is it gorgeous and craftily designed, it also plays some seriously fine linear infection. Offering a challenging (and somewhat pulse-pounding) experience, this map certainly can't be classified as overly easy on the humans. In fact, this map showcases some of the most balanced gameplay around when it comes to humans and zombies. A huge emphasis is placed on everyone working together as a team to get through this linear zombie-fest in one piece. Great Job to Cassel, but if this is featured for winning the contest where is the Canary feature for Flag Reset? Hopefully we will see that up soon as well. Edit: And why are results hidden for the poll? Might want to fix that.
The official policy from our resident Event Director, Shad0w Viper, is that winning a contest does not instantly grant you a feature. This is, of course, a topic of some debate, and may or may not change in the future in Halo 4. But, for now at least, this is simply a wonderfully crafted map that deserved a feature.
...Buuuuut in this case, counter to the "official" policy, winning a contest instantly granted a feature. Not saying is wasn't deserving, but you guys really need to work on your timing.
We can't feature the map before we release the results. So we had to keep this in staff-limbo, even though it had already earned the feature.
Cade I think you sorta missed Mock's point above, but whatever haha. Anyways, while this map does not have the best gameplay of all the maps submitted to the contest, it is impressive as an overall package. The gameplay is solid, although there are a few issues as far as a lack of zombie choice creating some occasionally frustrating gameplay. However, given that the map is built on Breakneck, this doesn't really come as a surprise. Overall these two maps are an impressive package, with Breakneck's geometry being used creatively and intelligently. Good job Cassel, I enjoyed playing these last night. Also, the results should not be hidden and the question in the poll shouldn't hint at the response people are expected to have. That's just silly!
Wait, what? I thought you didn't have Anniversary! Have you played Favela Run as well? I must be mistaking you for someone else (but it's not LD. Or maybe it is).
Well done, I like the fact that the map is not made on forge world. I also like how you used the halo2 remake map, very nice. Will download. Have you ever thought about closing off the building and doing a infection map on there?
