why do any reviews even matter at all? this is halo game, not some new undie title, and we've already seen everything we need to know about it. chances are, if everything we've already seen about mm turns you off, some journalists opinion won't sway you. and most journalists aren't going to give forge much attention at all, from a "hardcore" forgers standpoint. the only thing they have access to that we havnt seen much of is campaign, but I'm pretty sure most already agree that it's going to be great, and don't really want to hear any more about it because of spoilers
Don't be silly, everything is subject to review. Even a continuation of a successful franchise by a new and unfamiliar developer.
wood wonk's got it. Game journalists aren't hardcore gamers. They have to play through hundreds of crap games a year and are usually given like a weekend or in some cases just a few hours at a developer's studio to review the game. Expecting anything less than immediate attention grabbing statements and sweeping generalizations about gameplay is just unrealistic.
I think reviews in their own little way matter, but like you said, you can only make your own decision once and for all, and it shouldn't really matter what anyone else thinks. In the end, only trust yourself.
IGN gave Halo 4 and 9.8, IGN Y U NO GIVE 10? But its an good score though, but i dont even care about those reviews actually.
I'm just saying that for someone who spends time on a website dedicated to halo (aka a "hardcore" halo player, at least to an extent), the opinion of some journalist is not going to change your opinion. we've been following this game for over a year, we knew everything we needed to form an opinion before any reviews came out. if you've been pessimistic and negative about the game the whole way, you're probably going to say that the good reviews are unjustified and biased while picking out and focusing on anything negative in the lower reviews, even though that's not even really a bad score. that's just the way we work. if you're in the us and you were watching the debates the past few weeks, almost every person is only going to hear the good points that their party's representative makes and such
yeah, honestly. just read 867 pages worth of dissecting the game and forming as good opinions as a whole community can with one and a half years to spare. Then you'll have a pretty good idea of how the the game is gonna be. or you could read the review.
Thing is though, it's not 867 pages of intelligent thought and debate. For example, click the red button in my signature next to a post from Neoshadow. THAT was great to watch. i was getting pretty tired of watching the derptacular gameplay from most of the other videos we've seen.

Could he mean map remakes? They did say that there would only be one remake coming with the game at launch but didn't say anything about the DLC.
Stop it you're making me blush. 2.5/5 would be average. Is 0.5 a smaller number than 0.8? I don't know myself, but luckily I have the number of my old mathematics teacher Alan Smith, who confirmed that it was. Thus Halo 4 is better than average, and not bad. ...and the first one I mentioned, Giant Bomb, which is easily the most reputable site I know of. I don't think many would disagree.
Me suspect that statement from Kevin would be referring to playlist updates and such, but not necessarily entirely new gametypes. but, i hope it is both! regarding the 'honesty' of reviews, i haven't read a good honest review since old school EGM reviews. and im not talking about the stupid seanbaby section they added on in their later days. I dont understand how 343 thinks this is the first time Infection has its own gametype, have they not played the 2 previous Halo titles? Kind of annoying IMO.
