Under water maps in 3 and Reach where glitches. (But so was ghost merging) But if you just mean shallow water for effects that is pretty lame, Not that i really wanted green water, Just gonna miss forged lakes/ponds/pools/etc they where very aesthetically pleasing imo.
They don't have to be though. The only reason they were annoying is that water in Reach wasn't intended to be playable space so no attention was paid to visibility. If 343 wanted, they could make playable water that is far less murky, and you could perhaps just use similar low-G effects that are on maps like Condemned/Zealot/Anchor 9 for players underwater. There's a place in Halo for some sweet partially-submerged maps, but they won't be in Halo 4, it seems.
You're forgetting DLC and dressup and pose(r)s and CoD. I meant forging in shallow water.. although deep water would be nice, too. LF> teleport glitching out of map to find non-soft-killed water areas...
I just want a small pool of that nasty green water in the middle of my map. Is that too much to ask? Is it 343?! But seriously I've been planning a map with that as a focal point ever since I saw it. Does anyone know exactly how close we can get to the water? Is it within a few coordinates or more like twenty or thirty? I just want a small pool of that nasty green water in the middle of my map. Technically you could still do that... it'd just have to be a pit of death or something. Anyways, I don't see the gigantic deal, but whatevs.
he says in the video that you can basically build from bottom to top, so I wouldn't worry. Also, mabye the guy put in a killzone on the lockout remake itself, and it isn't on the actual forge map? anyway, Halo 4 Forge Maps Overview "Erosion, Impact, and Ravine" - YouTube
It's far from a huge deal, but it's another small example of something that 343 could have made more flexible and fun and instead went the other way with it, for no clear reason. I don't recall that it ever caused any kind of problem that players could survive being in the water (up to a point) on Forge World. Why add a kill zone, except for having a bad case of the no-funsies? I'm pretty sure the kill zone over the water is confirmed as being built into the map and non-removable. I first read about it in a post from Overkill, if memory serves; it wasn't from seeing it in a video, at any rate. EDIT - I'm not sure about the disgusting green water pit, actually. I was under the impression that the water OUTSIDE the map was the part with a kill zone over it.
I understand what you just said, but so far, every completed map I've seen a video of on youtube has seemed like a more solid and cohesive map than a single one in Reach. I'll take that over a puddle of water in my map any day.
Halo 4 Forge Maps Overview "Erosion, Impact, and Ravine" - YouTube she also mentions race again. I'm starting to get really confused.
i does makes sense that there is a kill zone above it or at it. in reach/halo 3 water maps, it was always a beach that somewhat gradually got deeper, with the kill zone/elastic boundary being some distance away from the shoreline. on erosion, the water is at the bottom of a big pit, kinda like a big well, so there is no area of shallow water to stand on and not fall all the way down into the depths.
How does that justify blocking off the air above it with soft kills? Also, grammarnazi@title - there shouldn't be a comma between still and no..
EVERYTHING, everything i have heard about forge since the release has been an utter dissapointment, except some little things. Where did you people get the knowledge from, that there is an soft kill. Really, what is the point of that water area, if you cant forge in it? I knew it all along actually, if you look back at the forge reveal video, the water down there, on Ravine looks very odd. But if you look back at the Erosion vid (here it is, covered by THFE) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isCdNXVcsS0 Dont you notice a flat little piece of ground down next to the water area? Around 3:23 i believe.
Did you see the lockout remake? It looks like it would be so terrible to play on. Then again, pretty much all the maps in Halo 4 look like they were made to get old really quickly.
