I saw Looper, today. Reminded me that I hate movies with time travel with multiple versions of people. They never make any sense in the end. Good movie, though, besides that.

I don't think I've seen a time-travel movie that didn't make sense. Since time-travel is disputed, as long as they follow their own rules, they can do anything.

‘I don’t wanna talk about time travel, because if we start talking about it we’re going to be here all day talking about it, making diagrams with straws.’

bruce willis frowns upon your attitude.

Just because Bruce Willis makes a poignant joke referring to the problem with time travel doesn't eliminate the problems with doing time travel in a movie. If you're going to set up a premise around the specifics of time travel it's pretty important to at least not cause universe shattering paradoxes in the process

once you realize time travel to the past in itself is a universe shattering paradox, maybe you'll come around. i have hope within me.

and i explained to you in your blog that the premise isn't based around the specifics of time time travel.

Interesting. Guillermo Del Toro is always good, the only director that can really scare me these days. Also I was reading up on feral children a while back, it's very disturbing and grounded in real stories (nothing supernatural, they're just never quite right....) I'll have to watch this.

Just saw Looper. The first half has perfect pacing (to the point where I audibly mentioned it in the theater) but the second half drags on worse than S2 of The Walking Dead. There's also some major, major issues that killed the movie for me. So much potential.

Not to say it's bad, but it's definitely not as good as I thought it would be nor as good as Rian Johnson's other movies imo.

As for paradoxes. Time-travel isn't an exact science, and as with any story you should have issues with self-contradiction, not with unrealistic output.

Also saw Seven Psychopaths. Hilarious movie. Everything I want to say about it would spoil what makes it awesome so I'll just end it there. I should say I wouldn't recommend it unless you like dry humor (not that the movie's humor is particularly dry, but the pacing of the film coupled with the humor make it a good stipulation before seeing the movie) or enjoyed In Bruges.

Just watched a movie called Trainspotting, very odd movie, but i like movies where the main character narrates. This one puts you in the perspective of a scottish junkie and his friends

    Trainspotting - Trailer - YouTube

Trailer doesn't exactly do the movie much justice, as its a very insightful movie, definitely would recommend this movie to someone looking for an interesting watch

^That movie's... funky. If anyone does decide to watch I'd say read a bit about it afterward or before.. it's just pretty strange, is all I can say. It's funny at times too. Eh, I'll leave it at that

I just watched Memento. I only have one question, who was the good guy?

Aside from him setting it up to kill Teddy because Teddy used him (and thus made him kill an indefinite number of people in his holy quest), I'd say Leonard is a good person.

That makes sense. Was Teddy really doing it to make Leonard happy or was he just using him to kill random drug dealers?

    That's one of the mysteries.

Personally, I think Teddy was telling the truth, and that he was just taking advantage of it. You know, the whole "a soldier's work is never done" sort of thing. Since that was the only thing left in his life. Plus there was the picture of Leonard smiling, covered in blood.

So you're saying it was both? I just don't see one man caring about another's happiness enough to go to those ends.

Anyway, I watched it with my mom and of course she didn't like it because she didn't understand it.

I'm saying Teddy did help him track the guy down, but Leonard simply forgot about it and kept wanting to go after a guy. So Teddy took advantage of it (and wanted to help, I guess) and continued setting it up.
