I was reading EGM's June issue today and read this: After shipping last fall's blockbusting Halo 3, revered developer Bungie stunned the world by announcing plans to liberate itself from Microsoft's ownership. Allegedly, that path to freedom requires that they develop a few more titles for Microsoft, and we've heard rumblings that the first one will be a Halo spin-off due in late 2009. Our spies tell us to expect a third-person action/adventure shooter hybrid that takes place before the original Halo, chronicling early skirmishes between the ODST troops and the Covenant. This may or may not be the oft-mentioned "Peter Jackson Halo Project" -- though apparently Microsoft is hiring a seperate team for that -- but WETA is definitely involved in some capacity. Look for a massive reveal around the time Gears of War 2 ships this fall... Thoughts?
Huh.... I honestly dont know what to expect of this. 3rd Person games are okay when its Mario. I dont know what to say. :L
This is old news but yeah looks interesting, can't wait to get my hands on this. I just hope they don't make it a Halo version of Ghost Recon... I really don't want it to be squad based in the sense that you give your squad commands. That's horrible...
there are plenty of more hardcore 3rd person titles than mario, like r6v2, or gears of war, trust me you won't be dissapointed, or at least you will recognize it as a very well made game, you just don't enjoy 3rd person titles, I know i want nothing more right now to play as an ODST charging into feirce covenant relying less on steroids and sheilds and more on teamwork and speed. omg can't wait
I'm thinking more gearish third person as opposed to mario third person, I'm hoping for a more call of duty (intense gameplay) meets gears type game set in the halo universe. That could be pretty badass.
Isn't Gears and R6V 2nd person? There's a huge difference. Mario is 3rd, and I think Gears and even GTA is 2nd person. I'm not sure though, so dont come flamin'
Urm second person doesn't exist, both in video games or books. Third person over the shoulder is what Gears and RE4 (best game ever) use and it works a lot better for shooting things than full third person (ie mario) theres the difference.

This sounds really good. Despite the third-person aspect, but it isn't that big of a deal. It won't be "Halo" as we know it, but playing as an ODST will be awesome.
yea, they could make some really cool ranks, and multiplayer campaign would murder the halo 3 campaign, and thats saying something, b/c that was composite awsome, they could do some really cool things with it, ^_^
who knows if its ODST it could still be spartans because there are ODST armor perms and that means spartans could have bin part of ODST. i wouldent mind that either too having teams of spartans instead of just 1
wow.... I really dont know whether to believe this or not. I usually dont beleive rumors. I'll just wait till an official announcement is released. Although it does sound like a good game to me. Teamwork would come more into play in this game rather than the Halo series.
