Naw the top two are just saying it's the armor skin for the armor recruit. Shuman's is pretty blatant though, where is that from?

This is the bulletin from Sept: The Halo Bulletin: 9.19.12

    Yes, unfortunately

Are they shipping the DLC on disc and making people pay for it still? Pisses me off so much when they do that.

Of course if people stopped paying for day one dlc they'd stop making it but that will never happen.

Specialisations aren't like perks. Armour Mods are Halo's equivalent of perks, Specialisations (as far as I can tell) are like mini levelling systems where you rank up within the Specialisation unlocking armour along the way, then at the end you unlock a new Armour Mod which fits in with the theme of the specialisation. Then you pick a new specialisation and start over. I'm probably wrong on the specifics of how it works, but I'm pretty damn sure specialisations are a levelling system that just include new Armour Mods.

    Change of topic:

What kind of settings (weapons, timers, AAs, perks) would you like to see standardized for competitive play? (Doesn't have to be changeable atm, for instance no sprint in objective would be valid)

Specializations are a bunch of stuff peg. They add a new armor, new skin, new weapon skin, new emblem, and then a "perk" (armor mod) Halo 4 Specializations Detailed, Plus: Limited Edition Breakdown - G4tv.com

The way it worked before was that the community would have to wait for these to be released by 343, while the LE owners got access to them all right upon hitting 50. So if 343 didn't release Nemesis until January or something, only those LE owners would be using it before that point. It's quite a selling point of the LE and quite a bit to remove.

Pegasi/Nutduster, I won't quote any of your long posts on DLC because what I have to post is understandable without that context: couldn't they just keep the DLC only playlists (not mixed with disc maps) like what was Squad DLC and Anniversary BTB, without eliminating them? Better yet, they could have the same game settings as the other playlists, as opposed to vanilla in Squad DLC as soon as the TU arrived, and no 3sk pistol with bloom (side note:I liked the smaller maps with the other classic-like anniversary settings, and the BTB maps with TU settings) or other settings which are different from all of the other playlists within the anniversary playlist (a classic 4v4/BTB and a TU 4v4 BTB as seperate playlists for the anniversary maps would be ideal if it wasn't for low populations).

Pegasi, are you declining to respond to that falcon post, or did you miss it? I wouldn't ask if it was a shorter post, but I know that there is a good chance that it could missed in such a large thread.

Whether I but the map pass depends on my current microsoft points balance and how many points can be purchased in a bunch. I know that I won't be using msp for anything else, so if I have a low amount of points right now but end up buying the minimum batch of 800 msp for $10 (making up numbers) because I have 700 msp by the time I buy the april map pack, which hypothetically goes for 800 msp, I could be losing between 8 and 9 dollars in addition to the $5 discount of the map pass. The extra $5 by itself I don't mind paying because I would have the benefit of not buying them if I don't see a dedicated playlist for it.

The wholesale discount at the release of the game a couple of months before the first DLC comes out may reflect the possibility that they think that fewer players will buy the DLC once interest for the game wanes, whether it wanes in the first two months or by the time that the last map pack comes out.

Otherwise, the normal time for a discount would be later (in other words, the early map pass would be more expensive), because everyone who wanted to buy the game at that price would have already bought it; more people would buy it as it becomes cheaper. It would still be worth it to some people to buy it at the higher price because they would be getting earlier.

I can understand selling something late in the game that gives you stuff that takes a while to unlock so people don't end up at a huge disadvantage from buying the game late. Selling gamechanging stuff on day one that's not available for others for months is really annoying and I'm quite glad they removed that.

The issue as I see it is not the features themselves (although I do agree with you), but that the features were announced and retracted.

The armour mods that you get at the end of each specialization either fall into category of/take up the slot of/replace another support upgrade/tactical package.

I don't know why some specializations are released as "the player base hits certain milestones at certain points after launch" (possibly paraphrasing, but very close).

Specialist DLC required playlists like Squad DLC are always woefully underplayed, hence their eventual removal.

Well it's been stated by multiple people with said leaked copies that the Banshee is the only air vehicle they've been able to find. The question of Falcons/other air vehicles hasn't been addressed by 343 at all either, and only Banshees have been mentioned. I'm about as confident as I can be right now that they're not in the game. I guess they could release a map which included Falcons but I can't think of a precedent for doing that.

ive always been bothered by the whole "eventual removal" thing with new playlists.

even if they're underpopulated, why not just leave them there for the people who like them? =(

They use the excuse unnecessary server strain and maintenance but never made much sense to me.

With the inclusion of that Harvest map (a map which is currently being rumored to be the cut 10th "new" map which was replaced by Valhalla), we could maybe, hopefully see a chopper or even something else?
The backstory of the chopper is that it was created by engineers to be farming vehicles (I think as potential gifts) for when the brutes first arrived on Harvest and were not initially hostile towards humans.

There were some other interesting vehicles in the harvest novel so it could explain the loss of that second new vehicle if Harvest was indeed supposed to be the 10th map.

    @Chrs + Titmar

It could also be because fewer playlist mean more people in each playlist, so it's easier to find games?

Not sure if significant playlists were full-on deleted (if they had no consistent base or were just not mergable into another playlist)? My thoughts..

After seeing gamestop's commercial for the forest camo and the Hazop armor, I'm getting excited.

is it really that hard to think of the fact that falcons are awesome?

    so. What's our vehicle count?

    Human:
    Mongoose
    Warthog
    Scorpion
    Mantis

    Covenant:
    Ghost
    Wraith
    Banshee

I never would have guessed that Halo 4 would have less vehicles than reach.

I was expecting at least 12 vehicles: 4 human, 4 covenant, 4 forerunner. I guess 343 think that underdoing themselves is a good idea, which makes sense because...

well, actually, I don't know why it makes sense.

IMO, only in campaign are falcons awesome. Hornets on avalanche are what a UNSC air vehicle should be.

It's surprising to me how relatively few vehicles there are compared to the amount of BTB maps.

Does literally no one here grasp the concept that sometimes less is more?
