Play the demo. It's ****ing awesome. The same Forza Finesse in an open world. Nothing has been taken away, aside from tuning, which you probably wouldn't miss too much anyway. Just Imagine playing Forza 3/4 in an open world, with no limits.
Man it felt good playing a forza game. I played the demo for a bit and felt right back at home. The in-game traffic and a dirt road track left me impressed. At this point NFS Most Wanted cant really compete with the level of driving you can have in forza, maybe i wont be able to run away from cops but I can feel more accomplished beating records. Hopefully i can add you all to my friend list when this game comes out. EDIT: Found this review. I feel like they really get what i was thinking. http://kotaku.com/5952552/forza-horizon-the-kotaku-review
That was a rather interesting read. Shame he bashed it a bit for some of the more tedious sides but I rather enjoy simply just blasting around in my favourite ride, and he skated over stuff like the spectaclar races against planes and helicopters. When I first did that race in the demo I was foaming at the mouth over how awesome it was. We see all these kinds of things on TV but to be able to do it, even in a game is, to quote Zero Punctuation: Totally ****ing Sweet. That was a fair review but he still missed out on the technical prowess of the game. I recently played TDU2 for an hour and after playing the Horizon demo I can already tell how much better this game will be. The map may not be as big but the visuals are still stunning and the framerate is second to none.
NFS Most Wanted: Single Player Campaign with Commentary - YouTube UGH.... I cant make up my mind.... 1st world problems. I mean they are both from a rich pedigree of game. I was honestly very disappointed by Hot Pursuit but Most Wanted seems to have fixed all my problems with it. For me it still comes down to Forza Horizon being this studio first open world game. Some video was commenting on how the forza team is a collection of all the best studios, i think maybe it will take this studio a game or two to work well together? I dont know i feel like im reading into this too much just both games offer different enjoyment.
I'll be getting this too. The demo was loads of fun and I can't wait to get my hands on the full game. I'm going to pre-order it later today. Such a shame that it comes out when I'm in the middle of exams though. D:
So Horizon comes out in the UK on the 26th. I'd already planned my week around it being on the 23rd. Crap. Looks like some late nights on Xbox then. TGIF anyone?
Don't worry Sky, my copy should arrive on the 23rd so I'll tell you how awesome it is as soon as I get it.
So, seeing as the ENTIRE WORLD got the game before the UK, tell me how awesome it is. If it's not awesome, you can go burn in the fires of hell. /fanboy
its completely ****ing awesome, all i've done so far is co-op free roam with my friend and its amazingly fun
i was able to earn nearly 500K in a short time just messing around with the co-op challenges in free roam, before i've even started the single player. also, there are little sign everywhere that earn you discount % on parts. im up to like 50% which is nice since my parts will cheap when i do single player now. its very fun to set up your own races with your friend and explore the map so far.
its pretty big, definitely bigger than the burnout paradise map i think theres a lot of neat little areas to explore, jumps, shortcuts, etc driving on the highway in traffic, in Forza, is awesome
i havent really put in enough time yet to notice... so far it seems the same. something that really bugs me is that most of the things on the side of the road are breakable, but occasionally there is a bush that looks breakable, but it is not and causes you to crash to a dead stop. since the game seems to encourage shortcuts, its extremely retarded to have these mysterious concrete shrubbery. also, why am i racing offroad against a range rover... **** outta here edit- i found where the FM4 vinyl groups are. rejoice, sky! [br][/br]Edited by merge: edit 2 - ive already noticed a bunch of negatives that will probably cause me to return the game when i go to get halo 4. 1) no tuning, which also means no drifting tunes 2) emphasis on sloppy driving. you are rewarded for plowing across the grass, smashing through debris, in order to cut ahead of the pack 3) annoying structure of race progression leads to very little freedom (at least, in the beginning it seems this way.) you level up and then you get another 3 races or so scattered around the map to choose from next 4) super lame and annoying cinemas and story characters that you cannot skip 5) same old cars, same old upgrades ______________________________ all that being said, it is still a really really fun game and im going to enjoy it while it lasts. free roam forza style is simply epic. blasting down the highway dodging traffic at 205 mph in a lamborghini is amazing
When i got passed in the demo while im taking the turn perfectly and he just jumps the curve plows through tables and chairs and passes me... yeah i wasnt happy... also i think its ****ed up that the rewind thing also rewinds your time. basically every time challenge you can cheat at to get the fastest time. If you rewind the clock should keep going.
It used to give you a penalty so that it didn't count towards your best time, I think they missed that bit out.
i was in a bad mood yesterday when i wrote all that... i realize that it's a different game, it's not a sim. and it is still very fun for what it is. but the one thing that still really bugs me is the no tuning / no drifting thing (sure you can arcade drift, but its not the same) the main thing that made FM4 have lasting appeal for me was building and painting drift cars and goofing around with them [br][/br]Edited by merge: Bugatti EB110 with Veyron motor swap and maxed upgrade is a drift beast (arcadey style) im having a blast with this thing in the red rocks area. literally enter a corner at a proper speed, tap brake then gas, ride it out. huge fun
