While we know that invasion will not be a gametype in Halo 4 [sad face], I have been thinking: Would it be possible to create a pseudo Invasion game using Dominion? Or perhaps using one-sided assault? Regardless of feasibility, I am very certain of the loadouts that would recreate the 'Elite' side of the match: Starting Loadouts: Warrior AA = Thruster Pack [a suitable replacement for Roll] Primary = Storm Rifle Secondary = Plasma pistol Tactical = Shield Package Support = Dexterity Assassin AA = Active Camo Primary = Needler Secondary = None Tactical = AA Efficiency Support = Wetworks 2nd Wave Loadouts Zealot AA = Thruster Pack Primary = Carbine Secondary = Plasma Pistol Tactical = Grenadier Support = Dexterity Dark Assassin AA = Active Camo Primary = Needler Secondary = Plasma Pistol Tactical = AA Efficiency Support = Wetworks 3rd Wave Loadouts Ranger AA = Jet Pack Primary = Storm Rifle Secondary = Plasma Pistol Tactical = AA Efficiency Support = Stability Royal Zealot AA = Thruster Pack Primary = Carbine Secondary = Storm Rifle Tactical = Fire Power Support = Dexterity Gladiator AA = Hologram Primary = Energy Sword Secondary = Plasma Pistol Tactical = AA Efficiency Support = Sensor Master Assassin AA = Active Camo Primary = Concussion Rifle Secondary = Plasma Pistol Tactical = Mobility Support = Wetworks Spartan Loadouts Starting: Scout AA = None Primary = Assault Rifle Secondary = Magnum Tactical = Shield Package Support = Dexterity 2nd Wave Loadouts Recon AA = Thruster Pack Primary = DMR Secondary = Magnum Tactical = Mobility Package Support = Dexterity Guard AA = Hard Light Shield Primary = Battle Rifle Secondary = Assualt Rifle Tactical = Firepower Package Support = Explosives 3rd Wave Loadouts Marksman AA = Hologram Primary = DMR Secondary = Battle Rifle Tactical = Firepower Package Support = Stability Airborne AA = Jet Pack Primary = Assault Rifle Secondary = Magnum Tactical = AA Efficiency Support = Ammo Operator AA = Hard Light Shield Primary = Shotgum Secondary = Magnum Tactical = AA Efficiency Support = Ammo Grenadier AA = Regeneration Field Primary = Sticky Detonator Secondary = Assault Rifle Tactical = Firepower Package Support = Explosives I've not included the Auto-Sentry or Promethean Vision AA in the loadouts entirely as I feel they would be too OP for either side to have.
They removed that too. People are more interested in making assault from dominion. What made invasion different from three separate one sided objective games was the fireteams which won't be possible to recreate.
I can't seem to find a complete list of gametypes for War Games, anyone have a link? I count: Slayer/Team Slayer Oddball Juggernaut Dominion King of the Hill CTF SWAT GrifBall Flood [Infection] Couldn't you create an assault gametype using some modified Grifball settings? I would think that would be fairly easy.
Forgot Extraction. Has not been detailed but it's basically confirmed. Just have to ask, how many people played assault? I was always under the opinion that it was fairly sub-par in matchmaking and in most custom maps.
Pretty much, shoe. It was still a fun gametype and one of those I thought was an important part of Halo. A lot of people will miss it.
I have always thought it was the inverse of CTF and served as an alternate gametype when you wanted a change from vanilla CTF. It's such a simple mode to have too. I have to believe it could be created using modified Grif settings. I'm guessing Territories is gone as well? It's never been very popular.
Territories has been replaced by Dominion, though I am desperately looking for a replacement for Asymmetric Territories. Loved that game. Hoping Extraction will deliver this.
Bit off topic, but will the Insane gametype actually be there? If not, **** me, because I delayed a few interesting projects in Reach that utilize that gamemode because Halo 4 is so close to release.
I've never been quite sure what people mean by Insane gametypes, are you referring to Chess, Power Slayer, and other Action Sack gametypes? I haven't heard or seen anything that would indicate that those are coming back.
They were added late to Reach, could be added again for Halo 4. Remember that what we get off launch is not necessarily what we will have in a few months.
Here's the thing with Assault, people only miss it when it's gone. It's like toys in a toy box, you never play with that one toy, but when daddy or mommy takes it out, you suddenly want it back, and you then think of all the reasons why you want it back. If it's more of a "why not?" scenario, then ask yourself this, Why should it be in?
I agree mostly with this, but all in all I don't understand the idea of removing customization in customs. In MM they can change things to fit a certain play style, but in customs I don't see why they don't keep them all. Nonetheless, Assault was still one of the least played custom games I've seen. It's passing shall not be mourned.
So without the Fire team style spawning and without any real analog to Invasion in base gametype settings I guess the only makeshift custom to create would be some kind of Invasion Slayer variant. Hopefully you can create capture areas that reward a team with an ordinance drop. But will we be able to dictate what loadouts are accessible when certain criteria are met?
Woh wait, they got rid of assault? That was my favourite gametype on valhalla! FUUUUUUU! 16 player neutral bomb. Stunningly good laugh n fun.
I cant remember what video exactly but in an ign map walk through they hinted at teamsnipers when they talked about (solace maybe)
