i dont care about finding skulls to be honest. I rarely play campaign anyways. As for Assault, it appears to not be a gametype any longer; grifball is its own gametype.
How is this a bad thing? And how is it any different than before? Was the best Jenga map in 3 on Rat's Nest, Standoff or Foundry? Your post sounds like whining for the sake of whining.
Choices are bad, limit me? That argument doesn't make much sense to me either. Also how are people getting 11maps for default reach?
Sorry Lights, but it really isn't. I don't see how telling people that Assault is gone or that gametype settings aren't functioning right now is anything close to a spoiler. It's not campaign, it's not even revealing a gametype mechanic. It's like saying that telling people the game is 2 discs is somehow a spoiler.
Im just setting up an topic here : What do you guys think about the vehicles, i have not seen to much discussion on those, or i missed it. For example what is your favorite vehicle and what would you like to see? And what is that about no UNSC air vehicle? Thats an big dissapointment right guys? I would like to see an passenger warthog, you know those in halo 3, and the one in reach. But luckly, i have seen a video of the scorpion in the campaign, and you can see marines sitting on the sides of the scorpion, looks like fun. So what is your opinion?
I think vehicle gameplay is the pinnacle halo's multiplayer uniqueness, no other multiplayer FPS has as good of vehicle gameplay. So why oh why would they limit that?! Also my favorite vehicle was the chopper and its relation to the warthog...overall id say i liked halo 3's vehicle set the best.
I don't think that's entirely fair, I think other shooters have pretty good vehicle gameplay. BF does it quite nicely, just in a very different way. Halo is beautiful because it bridges the disparity between infantry and vehicles in a way which I would have never thought possible before playing it. Vehicles are incredibly useful but they're not the be all and end all. As for the lack of UNSC air vehicle, I never felt that the Falcon or Hornet really added much. Perhaps I'm not the best placed player to make this observation as I'm not really a vehicle guy, but even on the receiving end they seemed pretty superfluous in most games, certainly not integrated in anything close to the same way as the Banshee.
i agree that the falcon and hornet were pretty much useless... Hornet was way too OP, and Falcon was retarded 90% of the time. depends on who your pilot is, and if they are good at flying around sideways. but still, for the sake of customs, and just general sillyness, im really going to miss them. and also going to miss the Revenant. WTF 343. Now we just have hogs, geese, and ghosts. There's no equally powerful counter to the hog anymore (besides another hog) =(
I personally loved the Transport Hornet; it was a great addition to objective gameplay because it didn't kill anything incredibly quickly, but it was able to suppress entire teams and be the most annoying thing ever if not dealt with; on top of that, it was amazing trying to coordinate objective deliveries with it because the only way to ensure safety for both the pilot and the flag carrier was to plan out where and when the Hornet should quickly land so the carrier can get away. It was one of the best support tools and greatly encouraged coordination, IMO.
I pretty much have to agree, in multiplayer, yeah the falcon was pretty useless. But for the customs, it was actually very useful. Minigames, BTB maps.. anything you could think off. As for the hornet, i dont really have used the hornet that much, but it was an intresting vehicle for sure. My though just is, if you have an Covenant air vehicle, you should have an UNSC one too, but i guess they replaced that with something more powerful. Im going to miss the revenant too, but with all those losses we get an great new vehicle : The Mantis. But will we forget the losses because of this vehicle? I say no, the revenant was pretty unique and i will miss the falcon. I will always love the banshee more, but still this is an bit of a dissapointment. With that being said, 343 stated that there would be 2 new driveable vehicles, the first one is the mantis and well the second one is? We dont know, so maybe we could be expecting a great vehicle, or a returning one, Dont we? We have seen some vehicles in action, even the wraith. So im curious about that.
The falcon is awesome in theory but retarded in practice, on most maps, thanks to the inattention to balancing it against the rest of the sandbox. Specifically, almost any anti-aircraft weapon or vehicle crushes it with no skill required. A falcon is completely pointless on any map with a laser, plasma launcher, or tank; if the enemy has one of those things they will take your ass out because of your size and lack of maneuverability. You can occasionally survive a locked-on rocket, but not nearly as well as a banshee with its stupid infinite tricking. I did use falcons on a map of mine (Hivemind) and they worked really well there, but the map was designed for them from the ground up. There was a single plasma launcher but it was in a REALLY dangerous place; mostly you had to rely on 2-shot rockets or rocket hogs to take them down, or maybe an EMP if all else failed, and the whole design of the map was intended to give them cover to fly around to dodge all those potential attacks. The delicate balance between rocket hogs and falcons was actually the crux of the map and the whole reason I made it. But the presence of a laser would have wrecked the whole thing, which is one reason why the neutral falcon on that one heavies map is so pointless. I also found it funny that Abridged (original version) had falcons, when there were TWO 4-shot rockets, TWO plasma launchers, and a neutral sniper/warthogs/rocket hogs on top of it. The only way to keep a falcon in the air, in that incarnation of the map, is complete domination of the enemy and stealing all their power weapons...
yea, but i am thinking the second new one must be campaign only, since we have already seen all the options for forgeable vehicles.
I'm gonna miss using the GL to EMP Falcons out of the air then sticking them, but I'm gonna miss pretty much every use for the GL so go figure.
we've only seen the vehicles they allow us to use on Erosion though.. no the others.. Im with you man, GL was my favorite weapon in the halo games, (besides the silenced SMG in ODST)
Hmm.. Im pretty certain they said 2 new multiplayer vehicles. I should have said that though. We all miss the GL, i miss the smg too.. But we have to welcome the new weapons, the returning. Same with the vehicles guys.
if war games is supposed to be this simulated combat training experience, then we should have all vehicles that ever were in Halo available, so we can train for all possible types of encounters, right? right?
