First up, this a modem/router/apple-is-a-*** related issue. Recently we purchased a Netgear N600 Router and it works beautifully to replace our Time Capsule and deliver a solid wifi signal (that is as fast as our physically connection) to the entire house. Now this is great and all, but now, our wireless audio streaming we conducted through Time Capsule/Airport express won't work as they don't connect to non-apple products wirelessly. Creating a physical connection from the N600 to Time Capsule will work, however its not easy (but is feasible) to setup. The reason we want this back is 1. Audio streaming, 2. Time Capsule is my backup disk and 3. An extended PHYSICAL connection on the second floor of our house (mainly so I can move my xbox to this second floor). So basically my question is, how can I wireless connect the Time Capsule to extend the network being created by the Netgear N600? There are settings to extend this network in the Time Capsule but every attempt failed to do so.
you would probably need someone with you troubleshooting it, either in person, or on the phone. This does not seem like something that can be answered in a few posts. I've never used time capsule, so I cannot help.
Is this an Airport express box connected to a stereo? If so then it'll connect to any Wifi network, it doesn't need to be an Airport or Time Capsule hub. I have my Airport Express hooked up to my living room stereo and it's joined in to my Netgear Wifi network without any problems. Press the reset button on your Airport Express, then run Airport Utility on a Mac (or download it for Windows). It'll find your Express and you can just set it up again, using the option to join an existing network rather than creating a new one.
