I'm not questioning that specific feature. That's pretty dumb. Still withholding full judgement until I've played it. If I can't find a way around it and it hinders me personally I'll have no qualms with complaining about it a bit, though my greatest annoyance is when these things get over-talked about. I will also say that removal of gametype options in custom games is silly, but once again don't know all the facts there. For Matchmaking... well so far none of the issues I see add up to being worse than having 0 BTB/ Squad that meet my standards like I was stuck with in Reach. (Except Breakpoint, which was still meh and was implemented poorly.) Honestly I'm trying to avoid this thread except for news. I want to be excited for this game, and while many claims are reasonable it is the effect of seeing them repeated over and over again that stacks on me and gets me down. Final Edit: I want to hold judgement until I've played it a lot. And until then I am pretty excited about it and I want this to be a really good game. There are small things I don't like, though a lot of them I understand and accept as inevitable. If the game truly sucks after I have played it I won't defend it, but I don't expect it and I will not make that decision until I have played every singe part firsthand. The End.
No BTB besides Infinity slayer on launch playlists is really lame though, Wasn't squad just 5v5? CTF playlist is 5v5 but I think its a reasonable guess that other playlists could be 5v5 to. Imo best way to stay excited for a game is go completely dark, Don't even read or learn the maps names or any new weapons or anything. You will undoubtedly hear rumors about new things but never know if there real which will build anticipation. Then when you get in game your like :O!!! SO MUCH NEW STUFF. Unless it sucks.
If you line up to objects with the magnets, and it doesn't go squiggly-tardsville after you save and quit, I have no problem with it. We haven't been shown what a flat surface looks like after being saved and reloaded, and I'll hold my criticisms until I'm told the problem is back, though I'm not optimistic.
Are you by any chance from Waypoint? I just have a hunch... Not as much a new Halo. More like an improved Halo: Reach. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Nice sig. Automatically makes me dislike you. Think for a second: Does the magnet feature (which has designated magnetic points) substitute the ability to fine tune (free object manipulation)?
...he's been here much longer than you have... ...you could've just checked his join date under his name...
Do you guys know that everything about Halo 4 was on the web? Even the ending, so i warn you for spoilers, may sound stupid, but the jerks who got the game so early just couldnt wait 3 more weeks apparently.
Thank you. It really does, considering the purpose of object co-ordinate aligning was to have objects lined up perfectly (which worked out pretty badly due to forge quantising object positioning badly, causing bumps while walking from one piece to another). Magnets do the exact same thing, only faster. Not that snap to angle or snap to co-ordinate is gone. At all.
Yeah ive been avoiding searching up halo 4 related content so that nothing is spoiled when i get the game. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Lol wut
http://halocouncil.com/showthread.php?t=960&page=91 In the next two pages of this thread Xx Overkill VR, who seems to have gotten an early copy of the game, talks about forge. Impressions are not comforting. And I would have got away with it to if it hadn't been for that meddling kid.
I literally cannot believe what I'm reading. It has to be fake or they have plans to fix it or something. It cannot be that bad. "okay so… let's take away everything they've been using for the past two years" "sounds good" "let's do it"
Wow, we're not gonna get no sprint objective gametypes, are we? Fantastic... And @zepp: my point was simply that it's an odd stance to take that Bungie unquestionably catered to casuals in Reach when he calls Halo 3 the best game, because that was just as subject to criticisms of that same pandering during its lifespan. The competitive hype around Reach was huge simply because of the disappointment with Halo 3's mechanics, I can remember multiple instances during the last MLG season of Halo 3 where Puckett jokingly said stuff like "don't worry guys, we're switching to Reach next season" after seeing Sniper bloodshots during main stage games. When the competitive community saw that we were getting a single shot weapon back, and that Sage Merill was on board, they got really excited. Now I'm not denying how that turned out, just saying that this hype only arose, and got so big from such a narrow look at what we were actually getting, because of the widespread and long term disappointment with the Halo 3 mechanics and casual friendly design choices made. Saying "I like" and "you like" would hold more weight than trying to draw some definitive line between 3 and Reach as to when Bungie started catering to casuals, hence my "arbitrary" comment. EDIT: Reading through this forger's suicide note that is the THC thread. Any of the "leave 343 alone!" guys care to pipe up now with their clobbering sense of optimism? No? Didn't think so.
Considering he's a member from Forgehub, I doubt it's fake. Solid first effort 343i, but this is what happens when you move the headstones but not the bodies.
"I cry when angels deserve to die" RIP usable forge. You will be forever missed and remembered through the legacy of Halo 3 and Reach. :'(
As far as I can tell, we've regressed to the point of Ghost Merging where everything will now have to be done free hand, so whilst we're down on Reach we're still up on 3. It's only a massively crushing regression, and not a total one, right?
Didn't the videos show phased physics in action? And yeah, gametypes is a good point. I'm talking purely in terms of the building mechanics. EDIT: wait, Overkill said in that thread that objects push themselves out when he tries to geomerge. FFS.
Yeah that's what I'm getting at lol. I'm not sure if there's some other method of doing it we don't know about or something.
I'm hoping that Overkill would have really scoured the options before saying these things, and tbh it'd seem very odd for there to be another option for it. If you can physically position it in the ground but then it pushes itself out, I kinda get the impression we're screwed. EDIT: Nice find, Shuman. Thanks. Surely it's obvious even to Frankie how he has the game, I'm pretty damn sure he'd know soon after his own game had leaked. That seems like an odd thing for him to say. But still, it seems equally odd to try and bullshit us with him "not figuring out the UI" if there isn't at least some truth in that. If there really are no coordinate or geomerging options then people are gonna realise after launch and call him out on directly lying to try and sell copies. I think the no sympathy for pirates thing is a bit of a cop out, though. How about some sympathy for types like us who haven't pirated the game but are genuinely worried about what we're hearing?
