I think they would have a better chance of not getting shot in the head if the enemy didn't know where they were.
the enemy also has advanced visual sensors, sometimes referred to as "eyes" these sensors are capable of detecting other humans who are wearing white and black amidst a forest backdrop with a respectable level of accuracy
If the soldiers thought that they had infallible sensors that would tell them exactly where the enemy was, why would they bother using their eyes? Most likely they would have their vision pasted to their sensor and walk right past someone in camouflage.
I agree with titmar on this one security. Removing their helmets was an incredibly risky thing. The only reason it worked is because of the element of surprise. Once the "enemy" saw that their helmets were off, what combatants weren't eliminated in the original action could have easily shot at their exposed heads. Even if they are non-lethal rounds it certainly would suck to get hit in the head with what appears to be paintballs on steroids.
The helmets could only useful for paintball, there is no way the could stop a bullet. Is there a reason the helmets give off a tracking beacon except for the purposes of training? Which even then I don't see the point of it.
Maybe a real motion tracker is an expensive piece of equipment only built into real armor. A tracking chip in each practice helmet is an easy way to replicate the action of the motion tracker without actually having one. In regards to Lasky ordering the squad to take off their helmets, I'm thinking that that's a serious breach of the rules of the training exercise, as no soldier in the field would ever risk taking off his helmet in a real firefight. Lasky abused the rules in order to win.
lol true. Although, if his squad couldn't manage to get the flag with the massive numbers advantage they had at that point, then I don't think any of them deserve to be officers at all.
I have the feeling that the Covenant might look like something off of a SyFy Original Movie. Let us hope that this is not true.
Ill admit that I thoght this was going to be dumb but this has turned out to be a great show! I cant wait to play Halo 4 watching this. I hope they make this into a movie because I would watch it the night it comes out. Wow... Halo's come along way from CE to now,who would have thought a game would become this big
