It just depends where you live and who you ask. I've never felt oppressed as an atheist in Texas, but then again I was in a metropolitan area and associated with the more intelligent crowd. It's my understanding that in the "Deep South" there are actual problems in schools where there are intersections of Church and State. In California it is not a problem at all.

When I was working at the popcorn shop I mentioned how my family usually went out to dinner on Christmas eve to a fancy restaurant, and I joked how we weren't really Christian. A woman who worked there asked if I was Christian and I told her I wasn't. She seemed a little stunned, but I mean it was no big deal I guess. And I've definitely seen the Liberal Douche on the internet, but never in person. I think everyone should have a right to their religious practices, however silly they may be. If they force them on others or hurt others in the name of religion, then I have a problem with them.
