I think it will be, but generally we will have to build off it a lot. I like what they have done overall, but I will say this: Forge World was much more suited to BTB forgers. Regardless, we'll just have to be more creative, which I believe will prompt more interesting maps to be made.
Yeah but we don't need forge btb maps because remember: they loaded the game full to the brim with giant maps.
To get back at Ravine.. Those islands in the distance really remind me of Halo 1, especially The Silent Cartographer, riding across the beautifull beaches with an warthog, gunning down covenant. Memories This might just be me though..
I highly doubt there will not be a BTB map in the 9 DLC maps. Personally I still want a larger asymmetric map, as Longbow, Meltdown, Exile, and Ragnarok are all functionally symmetric. A larger BTB space also makes more sense as a multiplayer map to include forge options on, as there is more room to build both small and large maps on it. It would make mores sense to give us the full pallet on maps like Sandtrap or Breakpoint than one ones like Guardian or Haven.
I can see a BTB space on Impact utilizing both spaces, I got a couple ideas for it already. I'm really impressed with the atmosphere that the maps have, however, a bit disappointing that there isn't a flat natural terrain we can work with. But overall, I'd say I'm very satisfied with the way they handled Forge. Can't wait to start seeing what the community is going to create with these unique spaces that we've been offered.
The rabbit holes on Erosion really make me excited. The number of possibilities we have available to us now is tremendous! The only thing I didn't like was when they were talking about the debate to raise Ravine's roof. I hope that since they decided to do it that it doesn't mean lag issues. I guess we'll find out.
Wow I think all 3 environments look beautiful, a great variety of forge spaces. However, I feel like the barriers are going to be ****ing annoyingly restricted. That is my only complaint so far. I'm guessing bs angel will be talking about Forge tonight since they just lifted the cap on that topic. Let's hope for an items list!
And for me, they did save the best forge map for last, i must admit, Erosion looks beautifull. And that water area is my favorite area of that map, that really looks amazing. I have so much plans for forge, but some of my plans have fallen, i have expected a little to much. Needless to say, i really like this, 3 forge spaces, and possible DLC.
Erosion is looking the best to me. The Ravine is looking pretty good as well. Impact will be the new source of Montana vs Alaska maps, though I can see some interesting creations coming from the map nonetheless. All in all, I'm fairly satisfied with the three.
The guy from the Gamespot video mentioned that the whole ravine was usable. Hopefully we can forge under the island with a decent enough space. Also, what's with the bottom of that prefab building on Impact? That guy said it might work for 1v1 maps...lolz. Is the scale just really weird or is he out of his mind? EDIT: There was a mention of a custom piece to cover up the floor in the center. Assuming that the floor won't be glass, maybe (??) an actually usable circular piece? If it's big enough, perhaps it could supplement the role of the wall colly? (Again, scale's driving me mad.)
its certainly larger than it looks in monitor mode. i kind of feel like just one of the asteroids could support a BTB map fairly easily.
Overall, I am pretty satisfied. Don't forget that there will probably be at least one forge map in the three DLC packages. Maybe snow or convenant themed will be in there.
I just meant forging BTB themselves and I was being half sarcastic. There will definitely be BTB maps in DLC..probably like half the DLC will be BTB. Also, I hope they realize that Complex should be BTB. @Ticky: I hope there is forge DLC but of the 9 maps confirmed for DLC, I'm pretty positive they said they would all explicitly be multi.
they are already giving us three forge maps even if they do use the same skins on all the items I don't see them thinking big enough to plan for another forge map just to have different skins on the objects. If they could think of that on their own then they would have done it for the three they are giving us. And they probably think three maps is enough. and before anyone says they are smarter than I seem to think they are just remember these are the people that thought force flag pick ups and non drropable was a good idea.
I think you guys are underestimating it a bit. To me the length of it looks comparable to maybe a little more than half of the FW canyon, but it also looks much wider. I don't think you'll need to build off of it only if you want a massive BTB. Even if you guys are right though, it still looks like the best spot.
I am pleased with this information of all three environments. Each have quirks to build in and I cannot wait to see what is done or to see what I can do. A shame there's no snow or covy builds, but I'll manage just fine with these. Interested to get my hands on them and really get a feel for sizes and pieces. Also the dynamic shadows on overlapping pieces concern me and I want to see what that causes.
I still wish there was a covy palette... That being said, the three we're getting look cool. I can already identify a bunch of spots on each map that I'd like to try building in.
