I feel like they're focusing too much on premade objects, premade rooms, tunnels, and buildings. It'll be hard to make good room based maps now. Instead of all the forge pieces looking like the center of the sun, now, they look like the center of the sun with shadows on them.
if the really haven't improved the object colour options then forge will be nothing but a disappointment for me
I like the color changes, and truthfully I am still unbothered by the generally gray color scheme. Now we have gray and white/ beige pieces. As for the pre-fabs I'm not in love with them but in the case of things like the tunnels I am at least glad that the parts are large. Those can make interesting walls, floors, etc... We'll have to see what can be done with it in a few weeks.
it was a video for people unfamiliar with forge, so they showcased the objects that those people can start off with to make a map. im sure they have plenty of walls and blocks too.
Could be but that one, could also be under the permanent building on Impact. At the start of the vid they came up from well under the level of that building. Either way, if that cave is as big as it looks, we could very well have a waterworks remake.
What I mean is, I doubt that 343 considers the area (if there is one) part of the "3 separate environments."
I cannot imagine those uber white blocks overlapping and looking goo. Im not even talking about lag, assuming some parts on the blocks have different planes, i can see just a lot of white and black, and i don't know whats that people saying about that theres beige pieces...i only see glaring white....personally i only see white. also i forcing hate that that center structure is indestructible....do they even listen at all? None of these maps have a natural flat expanse that ideal for the kind of completely workable btw variations that sandbox had, this i ever so hate.
I am very interested to see what effect (if any) the gravity zones will have on the larger objects set to "normal" physics. For example; If I were to place wall with normal physics face down and flush against a large, thin, zero gravity zone... but the top surface of the wall was just above the zero gravity zone... and it had some kind of track underneath it.. and I had a thruster pack.. I am guessing the giant hover-board idea won't work, but I can always hope. Honestly, people might be able to make whole trains and transport systems driven by gravity zones.
If I'm not mistaken, when showing off the preset map 'Relay', the forger scrolls over a small piece of cover on the upper level, a strut. The strut has to be merged, it wasn't sticking out too far. Also, there are other examples of struts merged together when he does the fly-though of the same map. Looked fine to me. Honestly, if they seriously cut down on FRL, that alone sells Forge for me. The aesthetic options are just icing on the cake.
Yea, that is what I though I heard her say too... But since toys like the kill balls would interact with the environment in a similar way to vehicles when set to normal physics in Reach, I am just going to hold out hope for something with a large surface that will be effected by gravity zones as well. P.S. Does anyone know what she means when she says, "there are only 4 buckets, but there can be up to 16 player trait zones." ?
@wade You can place 16 of the zones down, but you can only have 4 different kinds of custom zones on your map.
buckets means the amount of different trait zones you can have. you can place 16, but only 4 of them will say I customize bucket a to have 300% damage resistance bucket b to have camo bucket c to have super jump bucket d to have no shields Now. If I place a trait zone,it can inherit the traits from one of these four buckets. I can place 16, but I can only have 4 different sets of traits per map. [br][/br]Edited by merge: More discussion: the Dupe feature would be a lot more useful if we could select a lot of objects at once: copy and paste a warthog launcher or make half of a symmetrical map, then copy/paste the other half.
Ahh, ok thanks. Thats actually awesome news. I had been planning my new map to only have 4 zones for a while now. So much easier!
Well of course it would. But at least we have a duplication feature now. Also, I have heard this warthog launcher reference used a lot for the duplicate option. What are you guys making?
