Too be fair I don't think all the costumes look bad. Chief's armor for instance (aside from the overly large helmet...) or from what I've seen of the proper ODSTs and even thier uniforms don't look too bad. It's just the cadets fighting gear that looks ass. From the armor down to the wet suit they wear underneath that looks like it's choking them.

As WWWWilliam was saying it may just be because the are cadets in training that they are not using proper gear yet but I've never known a military school to use cheap stand ins, speacially not one that is supposed to be specifically for the Top Brass' brats.

Chief's armor is the absolute worst of it. It looks like plastic in the trailer.

    that's cause it is :)

no, I agree, the suit needs to be less reflective, and maybe have metal scrapes added

bottom line is their costume artist sucks... even with the costumes being foam, there are ways to paint it to make it look real, and then its on the actor to behave as if they are wearing heavy armor. i know they dont have weta on their side, but i do expect something that looks better than a fan-made video on youtube. all that being said, it was still pretty cool and i'm lookin forward to the rest for sure

The people who did the ODST and Reach Live trailers knew what was up when they designed the costumes. **** looked perfect.

I think one of the reasons they didn't add that was because they said this was the chief's first big combat situation, but yeah, they didn't take into account that he could've gotten the scratches in combat training or something in that sense.

I hate the scene with General Black giving that speech. I don't know why, but I think he really needed to clear his throat. It sounded like it was clogged and there were some nasties in it. Is it really that hard to give a man a glass of water before he gets on set? But really, I don't like that scene. Everything else seemed pretty nice IMO.

I would expect them to clean up chief's armor whenever possible so he goes into the battle looking all shiny and stuff.

Actually they kind of do have WETA. They built the Warthog and Jackson has expressed interest in a halo movie before. Only reason I can see for them to not be more involved is budget wich is probably microsoft being microsoft again, or jackson wanting to direct or nothing.

WETA made the warthog for the movie and the promotional stuff Neil Blomkamp directed. WETA has nothing to do with Forward Unto Dawn other than that the production happened to get their hands on the Warthog they made several years ago.

I just thought their armor was supposed to be training gear for paintball, not really stuff. Initially I was like WTF not bulky enough, but I think that's the case. Haven't paid any attention outside of the first episode though so many trailers show more.

I didn't like that scene as well.
Their CO seems to drag out words for no reason... and her voice doesn't seem to fit it. She should have just shouted the orders, not tried to be some stereotypical marine at a formal ceremony, because it wasn't - it was a training exercise.

Either she's trying to suck up to the general or the directors think that's how everyone talks in the army.

As I said, they probably have no actual military people (former or otherwise) to advise them. Even RoosterTeeth has Geoff who was in the military even if he was a journalist.

It's so casual. Do they not realize that you're supposed to scream everything you say and not look at your seargent etc.?

Not sure if the American military is different... but the British army don't have to scream.
My mate said it depends on the drill and the CO's mood. More often than not, it's just a raised voice so everyone hears... unless the squad has been a set of juvenille dicks, which is when they get shouted at. An order isn't typically stretched out for no apparent reason.

Since your the OP now can you update the OP with the actual video('s when released) because it was so much easier to use the OP as a reference point for the vid, instead of searching for pac's post every time.

I don't know all the military procedures are IRL but there pseudo military choices where believable enough to not break the immersion for me.

Thing is with suits if they where training suits in the show meaning they intentionally where looking bad, Then don't try to fool us into thinking its a actual war at the start then when revealed its just practice never explaining they where practice suits. Setting up out expectations of crap armor throughout the show. (If it was just bad design then hire the ODST guys plz)

That's what broke the immersion for me.

im sorry but i dont understand what youre trying to say, speak english please.

i think the odd armor is combination of them just playing paintball, with a bit of poor costume design in there too.
