Looks like Longbow, Exile, and Meltdown all support Dominion, as per the base areas I saw in each (just an assumption, not canon.) I'm liking the BTB focus this time around. We'll have about even large/ medium maps and medium/ small maps if the next map is smaller.
See I don't necessarily agree with this. I think tossing around terms like casual and competitive confused the message a big. If I asked an MLG player what I was he'd say I'm casual because I don't go out of my way to improve and play their style. However I still play competitively and play to win because that's the point of any game (except minecraft) and so do a lot of players ranging from 10-50, or at least was the case with Halo 3. However it feels like with Reach they abandoned those players for the players who prefer cheep gimicks and short bursts of fun, many of who have long since abandoned reach. Yeah there are players who like reach as it is and do play to win but that's what Im gettng at: those players are a much smaller percentage than the original halo fan, yet they're being catered to. Makes me sad, regardless of casual or competitive.
that was far from every piece of armor in the game, they only showed like 4 helmets man. it was just a short "walkthrough" of what the armory looks like. but there was an image with every helmet posted a while ago, i cant remember if scout was on it though.
True, competitive is a fairly ambiguous term. I'm not even sure where I would categorize myself, though I know some would say casual and some competitive based on where they were themselves. I also didn't get into MM until the beginning of Reach, so my comparison point is very different than those who started much earlier. I disagree with the idea that Reach introduced cheap gimmicks. Yes, armor lock was dumb, and jetpack was map breaking at times, but on the whole I think Reach improved a lot of factors over Halo 3 (from what I have played.) Sprint was a feature I at least enjoyed, I could barely go back to Halo 3's movement. I feel abandoning the series for simple additions like this is a bit petty, even if they are not all preferable.
Dunno if many of you guys have seen the video yet, but Meltdown looks supermegabawss. I can see a lot of elements from Halo 1's Ice Fields, which was quite fun.
So with all the maps out, there is no BTB on meant for good vehicle use that is asymmetrical...The days of Terminal, Sandtrap, Spire(gonna get hate for this, i know), valhalla(largely sym), and Relic are gone I like this new map but it only has one road, i don't know how much i like that. I also tended to like maps were you started out low and had to go up, like valhalla or sand trap. This meltdown has massive height advantages off the bat...oh well STILL BETTER THAN BONEYARD AND HEMORAGE
Meltdown looks sick, not gonna lie. Although, I'm still very concerned about 'no sprint' being an option for customs or not. Same with no loadouts.
Now Meltdown looks like a classic Halo map. Figure eight, bomb-ass bases, great tunnel routes. Also, I believe that there are too many spots on that track that look far too thin for the Mammoth to move around effectively..so does that mean we can count it out? However, it does make me a bit sad knowing for sure (though I had a very good idea) that one of the remaining two maps is a BTB forerunner map. At least it's one of the best looking ones, but even still half the maps in the game are BTB :\ Time for the sexiest covie arena map ever plzzz.
valhalla is in halo 4, where have you been? and meltdown looks like a good old fashioned 'hoggin map, my favorite kind. i have to say im most excited for it of any map shown so far. [br][/br]Edited by merge: at least 3, maybe 4 of the 5 BTB maps look like they would play perfectly fine with 4v4 as well though
Couple of them wouldn't work for me. I actually watched it on THC but the topic disappeared..am I to assume what happened here was on of the foreign offices of IGN accidentally posted this since we got both Ragnorak and Meltdown today?
The map dispersion is unusually focused on large teams. I think I like this, though i do hope the next one is small. Meltdown looks amazing, and I cannot wait to play on that. 343 seems to have done a good job with maps this time, a welcome change from Reach's set.
here's Meltdown on youtube for those who couldnt get it to play. looks awesome. Halo 4 News - NEW Meltdown Map Gameplay!!! - YouTube
Why would they put a story in MM and remove Elites while putting flood in? Either they put flood in Spartan Ops or they just screwed themselves over.
On Complex: Scares me that it's supposed to be a 4v4. It will be this game's Boardwalk. Too big, too complicated and slow paced. Though I love that central area..I wish that bad height and outer ring areas didn't exist On Adrift: Surprised to see my opinions on it improve. Center is better than I thought, though I still dislike a few long hallways of the map. Reminds me a bit too much of Reach in both design and aesthetic but I imagine it will be like Countdown; very solid but not crazy enjoyable.
