The second creation in the appropriately named "Lametastic Map Pack" is Moxie, a medium-sized symmetrical map inspired by my first endeavor, Ambition.

Ambition wasn’t received as well as I had hoped and instead of just letting it die, I stubbornly went back to the drawing board to try and fix my mistakes. The biggest improvement was making Moxie symmetrical. This alone fixed several problems as well as simplifying a potentially confusing design. Two symmetrical wings border two unique walled-off sections in the center. The strategic placement of entrances in and around this central hub creates some interesting encounters and multiple paths of escape.

Moxie features two levels, with noticeably less cover on the lower level but more potential for fast getaways with the two mongooses. The sniper spawn on each wing creates some dynamic initial rushes as opposing teams have a direct view of their enemy’s sniper from their own spawn.

    Multiple angles of the wings:

Like all of my competitive maps, Moxie was designed and tested primarily for Slayer, but supports all gametypes fairly well. At least four players are ideal with a maximum of around 10. Moxie feels larger than it actually is but too many players can really affect the spawning.

Moxie has endured countless changes and evolved considerably since its conception. Additional testing would have been nice, and there are always elements I would like to tinker more with but the final product has created some memorable experiences among my friends and I hope you will enjoy it too. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking!

I prefer Bankrupt, honestly. The mongoose idea is interesting, but it looks to me like it'll be ten times worse than sprint in terms of balance. Plus, it seems as if the mongooses can get on the upper structures, too.

I can just picture a mongoose driving around with the shotgunner on the back, killing all of the missed splatters.

Wow, I can't say I was expecting that as a criticism. No offense, but when did the mongoose become a killing machine? Not only is it the most difficult vehicle to get a splatter with, but its loud engine telegraphs its position almost instantly.

I assure you, in testing the driver of the mongoose tended to meet his end most quickly. Just the noise alone is like painting a giant target on your back. Its purpose on Moxie is mainly to aid in objective gametypes and the occasional mad dash for a power weapon.

Moxie has some issues (namely spawning) but if you agree with the testing results, the inclusion of mongooses is not one of them. Thanks for the feedback, anyway. I honestly do appreciate it.

It won't matter that the location of the mongoose is broadcast because it's moving so fast anyway. Think of it as a player with infinite evade and a shotgun. Surely, that more than makes up for the other player who's driving. It's even arguable that having the extra player is beneficial - people don't have to worry about controlling such fast movement and aiming.

You just described the #1 reason I dislike Reach's Forge: too much gray! I know what you mean, but unless I had created Moxie on the grass (which I did initially) there was not a lot of choice. The "windows" help the aesthetics, in my opinion, and I would have preferred Moxie without a ceiling, but the jetpack dissuaded me of that notion rather quickly.

That said, I am going to be very disappointed if Halo 4's forge doesn't have at least some rudimentary toolset for changing object colors.

I don't know what else to say except that the countless times Moxie has been tested, mongooses were literally never an issue. Never. I'm not the best Reach player (Halo 3 is more my style) but even I can see that an enemy mongoose, with or without a passenger, on a small, fairly crowded map, is an easy target. Players tend to stick to the higher levels anyway, inarguably putting the mongoose driver at a disadvantage.

I'll tell you what: if you have remotely any success as the driver or passenger of a mongoose in a competitive match of Slayer on Moxie, I will eat my hat :p

@Gravitas If I can manage to get an 8 player lobby, I will do this.

@comment@cheiyijei You can put soft kills up if you want. And besides, "THAT gray" is avoidable if you use varying pieces to break it up.
