Do you ever wonder why these people make consistently content devoid posts? It's because every post is still a post, and it counts toward their FH rank. I've seen numerous members (mostly younger ones) that reply with one-liners like "cool map", or "very original". These comments are not taylored to any specific map, and are made for the sole purpose of ranking up. They tend to be complimentary, so the map creator doesn't start asking them for suggestions. What's more, the posts are thoughtless, offering the map maker no actual feedback at all, and sometimes providing comments that may hurt future revisions of the map. Members like these are the biggest threat to our system and should be dealt with as soon as possible. Alternatively, our emphasis on rank here at Forge Hub could use some revision. We need to see quality of posts, not just quantity. (Although Nemihara seems to epitomize both)

Well, I agree with you completely Nemi. I also reluctantly agree with Turbo that the mods are becoming slightly depressed with the map section and I'll try to be more active there. I'll go have a big moderation session now in fact.

Another fashion to help relieve the epidemic, would be to force new members to read the threads on how to correctly post a map, where it should go, and how to properly reply to a map thread. New members should not have the ability to post, until they have read, and agreed to rules on posting.

Again, I'd say that it's not so much the newer members, but the older one's who are flooding. There are, of course, people who are both old a new members who are going around with the whole 'kewl map' spam, but in this post, I was referring more towards the older members, not the newer ones. With the newer ones, it usually only takes a PM to convince them to change their ways.

I think a good way to encourage better content posting would be to simply rep them with a comment on their posting, or PMing them about it. It has a better chance of attracting there attention, especially if they're the kind to jump from thread to thread.

When I saw my name I got a bit worried that it could lead to an arguement but I've read this thread and I'll try to give more informative posts from now on. If I start to sway, let me know.
Also, I agree that new members should be allowed to post maps until they've read how. But most new members will think its one of those things where you can just get the gist of it by read 3 words of every paragraph. Also if possible there should be something that doesnt permit a map to be posted if the thread doesnt inculde any pics. Because if there's nothing wrong with the post then people wont discuss it, they'll comment on the map.

What I find sad is how this is so true in many senses. I have seen too many "wow looks kool DLed" "5/5". Seriously? Why is it a 5/5? A better explanation would definitely help.

I have a solution. I think we should have a sticky called "Poster Etiquette" And we put some etiquette behaviors, for example

"When commenting on a map, don't misjudge the gameplay without even trying it out. You can criticize the look of a map and give suggestions, but gameplay shouldn't be judged until you have tried the map with the suggested reccommendations."

    but that's just my idea

Also I think too many people are suck-ups on this forum. I look at most of the threads from normal people and see a couple of comments here and there with "this is cool" or "(insert detailed post here)", but when it comes to a Loyal, Mod, Admin, etc. their threads get flooded with "WOW this be cool 5/5 i've never played it but it's auto 5/5" "its done by (insert name here) so it must be good it can't have any flaws".

I don't know what can be said about the point made in the above paragraph but I was just pointing that out.

Edit : I found Waylander's post just minutes after posting my suggestion. But his thread is a perfect example of what I am talking about. But the difference I think should be made is that it is stickied in every forge type of map (i.e Competitive, Casual, etc. etc.) and not be written by a drunk person IMO =)

Link to his thread - Here

I agree, just because its done by Cosmic Rick, or Shock Theta etc. it is automatically the best thing available. Nothing against Rick or Shock, they were just the first 2 names that popped into my mind. ANd this is nothing against either of them, I'm just saying that people assume that they're maps are completely unflawed, and its similar with featured maps, its as if they think if they're kind to the featured maps then their maps will get featured. People wont care if you have a negative opinion if you can give justification.

please no? this is why i am here, i hate the bnet forums, it's full of mindless jargen, that makes no sense, people talking crap about other people's maps, that aren't that bad, then, the thread gets bumped left n right simply due to arguements, left and right this happens, or at least it did when i went to bnet, and it still seems to happen nowadays, i've seen someone flaming my maps recently, and that is bnet....it happens there, and i would like that crap to stay there...
