They're selling this right? How is this not copyright infringement? I think they could get away with it this game... if they didn't mention in official videos that it's based on Minecraft and halo, mimic the weapons down to the way they act and look, and ship the game with maps from the Halo franchise. Aren't map designs owned by the game design company that creates them?

Though I do have to admit it at least looks pretty interesting. I guess it could be fun depending on how well it played as a FPS.

Having shitty cube environments doesn't make a game "like Minecraft". I will concede that they've copied Halo: CE enough so that it could be called "like Halo: CE". A crappy demake of a 10 year old game? Where do I sign.

It's like minecraft because you can build stuff like minecraft, not because of its environment.

Just played it, and I'm really enjoying it, so just try the demo and maybe you'll think otherwise.

Then it's like Fortress Craft, or Red Faction, or Starforge, or literally any other game where you can manipulate the environment in real-time: except Minecraft.

Australia has restrictions against unrated games, which includes Indie games.

Microsoft owns Halo and effectively owns this game too. Why would Microsoft bother if they get a share of the profits. Notch has said that he doesn't give a **** about clones.

Technically true though Microsoft doesn't see a dime of profit from indie marketplace games. Developers pay a one time membership fee (of 100 bucks) to Microsoft's App hub which used to be called creators club. As part of the network, developers can make their game, test it on an xbox, get feedback from other members and eventually publish it to the indie marketplace. Once it is there they get 100% of the sales that come from their game.

So the "profit" they get is from the membership fee, not the game itself.

That's interesting. That doesn't seem like a bad deal for an indy game dev. It would probably be a lot easier to distribute a game like this (one that's not going to get extremely large and popular) through xbox-live instead of online for PC.

Well, only few indie games generate enough revenue to cover the 100 dollar fee. Developing for steam or a flash website would get your product more noticed and played more often.

This looked kinda fun for, what was it, 3 bucks?

I think I can get a small burger's worth of entertainment from this. I might have to get it.

WOW this is just like a hybrid of Halo and Minecraft.

Recharging shields? That's a Halo original idea. And even the punching animation looks similar. And its like minecraft because you can build and it looks a cube-like. I might get it, because of its tiny 240 MS price.

    -_-;

really?, you thought of that all on your own now did you?

Personally I like this concept, its like Cube Sauerbraten, mixed with well, everything.

0/10 for creativity, but I know we all thought of what would happen if you could have the ultimate forge (even in 8bit)

@caughtsword4, really, you need to put more substance into your posts

The design mode in this game is fun as hell. No more worrying about textures and budget. I've already almost finished my first map.

So yeah, I highly suggest this game to those who can buy it. Sure there are problems, but it is still in beta. Everyone that has bought this version of the game will get future iterations for free.

The game didn't launch with Halo maps by the way. The developers had them and have to manually share them with people.

Now THIS is something I could get into. I've always wished that minecraft combat could be a little more complex, and it being based off of the FPS I love is just great.

If I can find three dollars, I'll try it out right now.

Luckily I've got 1200 MSP hanging around in my account... So I may get this. It looks interesting enough.

There is also "Miner of Duty." Which is essentially the same thing, but Call of duty and minecraft. It also has a zombie seige mode.

    Also, I bought it.

The game is awesome, cept it crashes pretty often. And there's no real canvas map for design mode, so you just have to go around and clear as much as you can. Still a pretty awesome game though.
