DLC $$$$$, I really hope that's not the reason but i don't see any other.

They already said now days a life span of a game is 1 year giving me strong feeling they could make a new halo every year like COD to make $$$

I'm really nervous about future of Halo.

As for griffball why is it popular, People like to play it do you need anymore reason needed then that? there are community's focused on it AND its a good grind-fest gametype so that contributes, It's pretty silly to claim Bungie doesn't have a complete understanding about griffball.

I've always felt Grifball was the bottom of the barrel mini-game wise. If something as simple as Halo 3 Rocket Race blows it out of the water, you would think Bungie could make a better mini-game if they tried. I've seen mini-games from Forgehub that have a lot more potential with the right attention and option tweaks than Grifball ever will.

lol, I like that name :Battle wagon

"quick, retreat! the battle wagon is coming, our Scorpion tanks are useless to a wagon!"

    *edit

on second thought, why battle wagon?, that is the near most ridiculous name I've ever heard.

You can't be intimidated by the battle "wagon", its like something from oregon trail combined with a railgun.

why not battle buss, or battle saab?

    or even battle bucket?

a game a year would be essentially impossible for 343. activison has had two developers working on the games to pump one out every year, so each developer is on a 2 year cycle. even that is rushed. i dont halo 5 being released before 2015.

also i dont think something like later adding the ability to drop the flag would be part of a DLC, im pretty sure that would have to be in a title update.

I think I saw some contract agreement where Halo 4 comes out this year, H4 DLC the next year, then in 2014 Halo 5, in 2015 H5 DLC, and in 2016 Halo 6, with it's DLC coming in the next year. So from what I remember it will come every 2 years.

source? ive heard rumors of halo 2 anniversary being released in 2014 (which doesnt really count as a halo title if you ask me), possibly alongside the 720, then halo 5 in 2015. but i havent seen that^ timeline anywhere.

343 crushed the rumor of H2A, and said it isn't happening.

That logic could extend to a whole lot of different aspects of Halo. Sinking resources into the little stuff is, IMO, how Halo became so great. I mean, Theater and Forge are a big part of the draw for me, but they could just as easily be written off as niche features.
Custom game settings is another. You could even make the argument against MM or Campaign if you felt one was far more significant.

I hope the time they've spent working on Grifball translates into more balanced hammers and swords in MM. I don't care about Grifball much personally, but swords piss me off. I really liked swordblock :(

And to be fair, they're making Grifball sound much more appealing to me. I enjoyed it a lot more in Halo 3, but Reach just wasn't the same for some reason. I'm actually slightly interested in playing it in Halo 4 now. I mean, it's not as simple as it was so it'll have a little more depth. Might be fun.

Sorry, I took a look but can't seem to find the source. It was some contract image that was leaked, and in some small part I believe it said that which I previously said. My dates may be off a bit, but i do think it was a release every other year with DLC in between them.

Ive heard what AoO said. It makes the most sense too. MS has gone one record saying they want major Halo content yearly. Not necessarily a maim series game but Halo wars, Anniversary, ODST, major DLC.

It seems as though the grifball conversation has already fully repeated itself, understandably so, because there's a new page each day in this general thread.

About the balanced sword, I saw that a player who meleed at the right time stripped the shields of the lunger just like in H3, which is a pretty significant weakness. It basically means that surviving against 2 decent players (killing one and escaping) will be fairly unlikely with the sword. But can players lunge in mid-universal sprint with a sword? I think that the best way to keep universal sprint from giving an unintended boost to the sword and only the sword is to allow a short range melee mid-sprint, just like with other weapons, and allow the longer lunge only by stopping sprint, like you would have to with the shotgun.

By the way, "zombies" (an earlier post) wasn't a full time playlist in the last year and a half or so that I played it, and I doubt that they had moved it from a playlist to double exp weekend. If anyone's sure that that has happened, though, correct me.

Or Cawk Blawkin', a more customized version of clue, "Sumo Hogs". Any of those would be better than Grifball.

That is what I've been trying to say all along. Not all the changes are good, but it's still going to be Halo, and it's still going to be really fun.

There are plenty of mini games better than grifball, but i think grifball is still the best for a MM playlist. i never even thought of grifball as a mini game. to me, mini games were best enjoyed with friends at a LAN party or maybe customs lobby. i dont think very many would work very well in MM where 75% of the people playing would be idiots. grifball is fairly unique in that it can be really competitive and strategic if you want it to be, but you can also just go in and smash people to death with hammers, and you would still be contributing to your team.

All I read is "Why bother to elevate the standards, people eat Grifball up". Instead of an interesting VIP or Territories based gametype, we get Infinity Slayer, Grifball, and Regicide. Game over man, game over.
