The throwing of the ball really helps with teamwork. But in the video, they throw it too much. They throw, catch, throw, catch, throw, catch, etc. But also, the ball looks way cooler. But also, in the video, after someone assassinated someone else, they exploded in what looked like lava spouts. Anyone else notice that?
That vid was posted like 3 pages before you reposted it and was already briefly discussed EDIT: waterfall beat me to it
Because it wasn't an actual game, it was a demonstration of the ability to throw the ball. also, the ball incinerates you, much like the forerunner weapons. I believe the flag even does it now.
Listen to what he says at 0:12... "this is a small portion of the forge map, there is a big world outside." So, it is on one of their forge worlds, not sure if its still on Ravine or a new one, but That leads me to beleive that this grifball map is in a built-in coliseum (not a forged one) GrifballHub Demos Halo 4 Grifball at PAX - YouTube
no, the light rifle is quite similar to the DMR, its not a sniper. the binary rifle was the one that was one-shotting people. but to me it looked more like the railgun with a zoom than a sniper. it seemed to be one shotting with body shots, and the spread was quite large when not zoomed it, quite unlike both previous sniper weapons.
I was thinking the same thing. The wall pattern just doesn't seem to be forge pieces and there are fluorescent lights in the ceiling. Its just too perfect to be forged and theres no way the engine could handle all those hanging lights being added. The green reflective surfaces around the crowning (top) of the walls makes me cringe though. Can you say lag fest
My jaw dropped when he lobbed the oddball. It's a small and stupid thing to get this excited over but, ****, I just can't help myself.
I meant the binary, couldnt remember the name when I said that. And I see what you mean by the spread.
I don't see how "flag taken, flag dropped, flag taken, flag dropped, flag taken, flag dropped" is even an argument for why flag dropping would be taken out; they already fixed that with Reach by adding cooldown traits so that juggling does absolutely nothing. Also, they said that Griffball was its own category of gametypes this time around so why are so many people assuming that the ball is the same thing as the bomb in assault? Opinion time: Exile: sexy Oddball: awesome Griffball: worth playing this time New Weapons: cool looking, but don't look like they do anything unique Regeneration Field: insane animation, feeling iffy about its role in gameplay Auto-Sentry: stupid as **** Anti-Flag-Drop: WTF Banshee: thank god it's nerfed, but I hope the bombs aren't as powerful as they are in Reach Armor: some of the new stuff still looks dumb as hell, but yay Mk VI New Griffball Court: anyone else think it was inspired directly from RvB's freelancer court where Tex beats the crap outta York, Wyoming, and Maine?
They arent. Grifball is no longer based off the assault variant, it has its own gametype built from the ground up now.
Looks forged to me. Just forged with pieces we're not familiar with. The fluorescent lights could be attached to a ceiling object. I doubt they're placed individually. Lighted ceiling objects makes sense to me, given the new lighting system and the awesomeness of enclosed maps. Here's hoping they don't eat framerate for breakfast, either way.
Nope. They gave it a fancy title in the 10 second loadout screen and had Jeff Steitzer say "Griffball," but it was just a variant of Assault just like how SWAT is just a variant of Slayer. 343 said that H4 Griffball is its own gametype that is coded separately from Assault, which will decrease lag and host-advantages apparently.
