Fishstick is a little on-the-nose. What bugs me is that default is closer to Fishstick than the more traditional layouts. I'm glad Boxer looks good - as that's usually my preference - but BJ looks so good I might have to switch..
I wish they would switch sprint and AA instead to be honest. Button tapping an AA that you'll maybe hardly ever use over having to tap a button to do something you'll be doing all the time just seems much better.
That idea is as bad as your spelling. Lets make everyone who likes to change classes often have to learn every controller set up. And don't try to say you wont be changing at least every now and then.
some AAs require a hold though, i believe and the picture doesnt really look anything like valhalla to me, other than green grass and cliffs.
Toggle jetpack would be a good idea, given the cluster**** of functions the controller needs to manage. It would be weird though. Having more than one way to 'break' it would be a good idea - like being able to end the jetpacking by hitting jump or crouch.
I'm almost certain I've watched a video interview with a 343 rep explaining why they weren't allowing custom mapping for controls, sadly though I can't find the inerview . Regardless, I believe what Nutduster said was true, but I also remember them making the point that some buttons aren't can't be used for all purposes or it would be just too unfair because each 'category' of buttons has a different press/release/etc. time. With that said, I don't see why they can't just allow certain abilities for certain buttons (like only Fire/Throw Grenade for L/R Trigger), but then I suppose that's where Nutduster's point comes in.
It's not that bad of an idea. I mean, it's not like you couldn't set the same controller layout for each one and only change it where you need to. Boxer would be a nice compliment to Jumper Bumper for enabling jetpack usage. Although it would be nice if they could keep Sprint on the same button where possible. The A/B flip could get annoying.
I can't really see the logic behind that, and definitely can't see why it would be considered unfair. The only real difference is between buttons and triggers, and you've been able to switch grenade from LT to a button since Boxer in Halo 3. If you want to put fire on a click button rather than a trigger then go for it as far as I'm concerned. I can't see any reason that could be considered an advantage. The only thing it could logically affect is RoF (since it takes a fraction of a second less time to press a button than depress a trigger to the point of firing), but since all semi automatic guns in Halo have a forced RoF cap anyway then that's not an issue.
Can't you see why they would be put off by a host of custom game-pad settings dominating the matchmaking? It's trivial for sure but a lot of people would bandwangon and it would be the #1 criticism for douches that can't understand why they suck.
Pandering to the lowest common denominator of community intelligence never has, nor will it ever be, a legitimate excuse for not optimising gameplay for ALL parties. As far as I'm concerned, anyway.
****er. They didn't do my suggestion for Recon. Lol I'll try out Recon and Fishstick and see what I like more. Fishstick might be more for me since I'll be playing the hell out of borderlands 2.
