Edison may have been, but that's in the past. He should be remembered for his accomplishments rather than his personality. I'm assuming the oatmeal's original intention was to spread awareness about Tesla. Talking about Edison was unnecessary and in the end it seems like the oatmeal cared more about bad mouthing Edison than praising Tesla anyway.
It isn't a comment on his personality but his behavior. It falls in line with his accomplishments, since he was unreasonably successful in crushing his competition, unreasonably, because he used underhanded, and in some cases, illegal tactics to do so. His greed ultimately deprived the world of great innovation, and as such, is open to criticism.
I support QPR in the priemership, Blackpool and Leeds in the Championship, IFK Helsinki in the SM Liiga, Chicago White Sox in the MLB, Oakland Raiders and the Green Bay Packers in NFL, Golden State Warriors in NBA, and NHL is Boston Bruins in the east, and Chicago Blackhawks in the west. That the world would have received "great innovation" if Edison didn't act the way he did. This is my proposed outcome in that scenario.
My direct criticism is based on the perceivable change the world would be if AC hadn't triumphed despite Edison. Extrapolate that out to all the technologies, namely Tesla's, that Edison suppressed and we sit here in a world that is behind in many ways than it could've been.
"What could have been" is impossible to determine. Anyway, my point is Edison shouldn't be remembered for being an asshole because that's not his most important accomplishment.
It is, but it's also pretty weak lynchpin for your argument against saying we shouldn't criticize him for being a ****. For example, we could assume that the electrical grid, billions of dollars in infrastructure, and millions in maintenance, would be completely nonexistent with wireless energy.
Yeah. Support Boston Bruins because my dad named me after a famous Bruin. Support G State because I don't give a **** about Basketball. Support Packers because half of Chicago does secretly
