I think what you are referring to as grav volumes are just trait zones with lower gravity enabled.

Nope - they're different. I definitely didn't see a setting that could do this in the trait zones, nor do they look like this.
Edit: that time-link is a bit shifty for me. Make sure it goes to 28:01 and watch from there to about 28:25 for the brief explanation.

well I certainly don't recall them introducing it. Don't you remember when they introduced trait zones, they used jumping across a crevice as an example? That was just them lowering the gravity inside the trait zone so they could jump higher.

True. But I still don't like the look of it. Same reason why I didn't like GUNGNIR in Reach.

Hey Scorch, let's me and you go sit on a virtual porch in H4 and yell at the people who like the new helmets.

Yeah - that was a different video. I think it was a separate panel, but I'm not sure.

I don't know why grav volumes haven't gotten more attention, but they're definitely a separate object. And they're definitely a big deal. Jump pads are cool and all, but a legitimate lift like Spire is a big ****ing deal. At least to me.

    I'm in!

I was such the fashion police in Reach sometimes. It comes naturally at this point.

In order to make this post not spam, I really hope you can combine grav volumes.

    1 up + 1 down = zero g?

So I can make Ender's Game maps? Please?

That would be pretty sweet, provided you could still move enough. Thruster might be advantageous too.

    Halo 4 "Specializations" Info.

    Here.

This is some pretty gameplay changing stuff here.

Basically, you pick a "specialization" out of ten (only two are available at launch [Unless you have the $100 version]) and while you use that "Specialization" You go through nine levels and unlock a bunch of specific armor, and on the tenth level you unlock a perk or bonus or whatever you'd like to call it.

You apparently can unlock nine different armor pieces (and visor colors) and not use them, and still take advantage of the bonus specialization at the end of the experience tree.

    EDIT: super damn it Cluckinhoe.

Those specializations are bullshit. Especially Pioneer and Stalker.

    BACK IN MY DAY

We didn't get no x-ray goggles, hard ligh shields or jet packs. Hell, we didn't even get Sprint! There were no perks like quiet footsteps, not getting knocked out of scope or any of that crap.

You know what we WERE giving though? A Battle Rifle. That's about it. And you know what? It was great.

Those are mildly unsettling. I sincerely hope they don't Reach it up and make this the overall experience. I want a pretty "classic" playlist where I don't have do play with all the modifications. I just want some good old 4v4 "everyone is the same".

I think it's pretty safe to say that they're steering the game this way, and that it'll be the overall experience. I'm sure a classic playlist of some kind will exist, but I see it being way too small to justify playing the game if you don't also enjoy vanilla, and even then I'm not sure how well it'll be done. Guess we'll see.

I'm hoping these don't impact the game as heavily as I'm thinking and that we'll just get used to them. I mean, if I use something like the "don't get knocked out of zoom" one, then maybe I won't notice much, and what other people are using won't really matter much.

So 10 levels of a specialization to go through. So you can earn an armor set one level, an emblem another, a skin another, 1 visor color another, and you only get the perk after you go through the entire specialization. You also get to do this 8 times.

They don't seem too bad, the only one I really have an issue with is Stalker, that takes it a bit too far. But they don't seem all that bad. Walk faster with a turret using Pathfinder, cool. Don't get shot out out of scope while using Rogue, cool. Get a few extra seconds on an map ordinance drop so you don't have to worry about timing it anymore with Engineer, not bad. Bad choices on a personal ordinance drop, change it up with Tracker. Get more XP with Pioneer, but only if you're using it with that specific loadout. Wetworks, the counter to OP PV and you won't get caught with your pants down assassinating someone like you do all the time in Reach when you don't even mean to hold the button.

Now Operator, aside from not being completely imbolized by a plasma burst but instead slowed down, recharging vehicle health?

    Called it a month ago.

I don't really care as long as the shooting and maps don't suck.

So to sum things up, Halo is now no longer about who is better, but rather, who was luckier in their selection of their load out. Everything is now predetermined and you're pretty much praying that you come across someone whose abilities falls under the category of who you stand a better chance against. It's rock, paper, scissors.
I wouldn't mind armor abilities if they were pick ups. And to be honest, I wouldn't mind specializations if they were pick ups. I actually think that both would be cool pick ups. I just don't like the whole everyone spawning on uneven playing fields with no need to earn those benefits

Do you think they thought about the reference 'wetwork' makes to Horrible Bosses?
I mean I know it actually refers to assassination, but that's a pretty recent movie.
