So for years I have been sayingthat one thing that is missing from the halo experience is a way to search forcustom games hosted by people you are not friends with. I’m sure that we haveall gotten to the point where you play MM for a few hours, and just want togoof off in a custom game or maybe practice a bit, but none of your friends arehosting any custom games. To further exacerbate the importance of this issue, you have thisgreat feature (forge) that can’t really live up to its potential importancebecause there isn’t really any integratedcatalyst for most players to come to appreciate the fruits of all the forgecommunity’s painstaking labor.
Ahhhh the text, but this does sound interesting. They can't do EVERYTHING in H4, but having this would remind me of searching for games in Halo 1.
No offense, but everyone and their dog has thought of having a customs browser every time a new Halo game is announced. Would it be incredible, though? Yeah. I could see SO many trolls using it to screw with people by making maps dedicated to hentai-spawn points, offensive words with forge objects, modes where they just spawn kill you for hours, etc... and find a way to promote it to the top of the server list. I would be amazed if we got a clan system similar to Halo 2's and once you join a clan, you can host lobbies from there. I suppose that's a suitable baby-step.
Couldn't they just have a system where you can set yes or no you want randomers to join your game? Still though it's an awesome idea!
It's already in place. Closed or open Game. Just instead of only the friends of those in the game already/recently played with, it would be everyone. The reason I do not see this happening though, can you imagine how many games would show up on any given search? Just doing the search would probably take a good long while. Better off going into matchmaking and trying to pick up randoms.
Thats like google saying there are too many websites we shouldnt go forward with this thing. The point of a video game is massengagement, and furthermore this is the type of attitude that leads tofranchises becoming stagnate and boring. The point is to maximize community development, right now the current state of halo leads to something that’s analogous to abunch of one night stands not meaningful relationships that strong communitiesare built on.
Yea I’m aware that it’s not a particularly a new Idea but it’s a great one that the community wants and sayingit’s would be too hard is terrible reason not to do something. Think about backin the first halo if you would of told me today we would have forge no onewould believe you, but now look. When you think about it we are halo, but moreimportantly we are the customer so if we organize and make our voice known theycannot ignore us forever yea sorry im new lol
Dude, it's the internet and video games. They are not meant to be taken as seriously as you seem to be. If you want to help build a strong community, throw a block party for your street, organize a community watch program for kids that get home from school before their parents, go help an old lady living alone mow her lawn. I've never had a problem finding games to play with people when I wanted to using what is already available so saying that this needs to be there just to make it easier is just being lazy. All you really need is a mic and the ability to talk to people without calling their mom's sluts or shouting about how MLG pro you are and all that other bullshit.
List of things that would totally help out with everything you guys are worried about: -search for a specific map -search for a specific gametype -search for a specific gametype variant -filter by:number of players -add tags to specific parties (competitive, casual, race, etc.)
This .. And now, quit using white text, since people on the light skin won't see your text. Just use the default grey. This won't work, think of all the custom maps and gametypes. All these forge world variants out there, you would have a giant pile of forge maps to look through As for the game browser itself: I never missed it or had the feeling Halo should have one. The reason I play customs, is not to play with randoms after all.
well, I thought it was obvious, but yeah, all the map variants of a certain map. And there are many more reasons to play customs than just to play with someone you know. Personally, I don't mind. I just wanna play some crazy gametypes.
sure, I don't see why not? There's bound to be SOMEONE playing the map you want, especially if it's popular enough for you to know about it.
I have no idea how many maps were forged in Halo 3 or Halo Reach, but let's just imagine, every member of ForgeHub made 3 maps in Halo Reach. That would be around 200.000 maps. Out of these 200.000, around 100.000 would actually be playable, the other half would be **** some 11yo forged. Do you really think, such a large browser would work? Now I know what you're thinking "But everyone could tag his map correctly, so that if you want to play CQB Team Slayer, you could just search for that, herp derp" ... look over at bungie or Waypoint, the tagging system is full of "j0keR waS here lolz" "penizZzZZ" and **** like that. A system within the game, that could fix that problem, by recognizing for which gametypes the map is set up, but we both know that this won't happen. Neither would it fix all the problems. There are a lot of other points too, too many maps with the same name, too many assholes that would come to your game and don't play it right since they are in custom games and not in matchmaking, different skill levels mixed together and so on... I never had a problem finding a game full of people, you either need new people on your friends list, or you need to browse ForgeHub more often, if you can't find anyone to play with on here, you could always go over to waypoint or stuff like that. There are already countless possibilities already.
well by a tagging system I meant that the leader would tag his own lobby. If you wanted to make your custom party popular, you would tag it appropriately. and by searching for a specific tag, custom games with things like penizzzz wouldn't come up. but certainly , if you wanted to play some infection, you could definitely find an infection game you liked especially if you used a tagging system.
