Nice, the title is situated against a quadrant pattern...or "cross".

It gets better than that. When it comes alive ;)

Speaking of which, my side project is really eating away into my free time. Would any of you guys be able to get me three or four games on various gametypes please? I've finished the introduction, it only took me 45 minutes with this non crashy, ultra quick PC :D

What hardware set-up are you using? I assume you've got you game installed to the HDD? Because I can't get any FR issues to occur unless I go to 4LP, and even then it's mild. I'm not sure what model xbox I have, but it's the one with the white tray that doesn't eat discs, game installed, VGA cable to a 19" LCD.
Am I running some sort of super-optimal FR set-up or something? Because I don't seem to get FR nearly as bad as some other players.

It's not super mega lag, its where the camera stutters a little bit. Normally during gameplay its irrelevant, but it shows big time in a video.

K...just put some games in my fileshare titled "redrum 1 - 4" Last two being the most notable. I'll try and film some of the first two games (1 -2) to see if I can get some nice clips out of them.

Or do you still need games for "Crosswalk"?

Since I figured you're about done with Crosswalk, I thought I'd go ahead and give you something else to work on if you decide to :)

Not sure if smaller maps are your cup of tea but there's a first for everything, right?

    Well... that's certainly interesting!

I'd love that challenge. When I start taking submissions I will go through all the maps that have been submitted /re-submitted to me and choose one. Gets the Purple RH Loyal days back in me. Before I had to do GCSE exams. Eh.

I'm so sorry for the delays with Crosswalk. What has happened is that (besides editing my side minecraft series) I have lent my PVR to a "friend" for a week. I thought that I would have enough footage to finish the video, and that it would take me a week to edit anyway. But faster computer no likey to take time. So at the moment I have all of 15 seconds more footage needed, that I can't insert. However, i've been able to give the whole video a go-over a couple of times.

There are many musical syncs, both for clip change, title effects, explosions, and also sounds playing off of the off beat, so all the sounds you hear don't stand out from the music. I've managed to add an ambient blur on top of the introduction, and figured out (through a complex system) the ability to make the main video body have a bit more of a cinematic hue without losing video quality or sharpness. In fact, shadows are now more defined on a nice level, and explosions are now orangy instead of white. Best of all, i've been secretly working on Lensflares. They are difficult in videostudio, but quick tests I have done all look quite damned good. With further polishing they would work superbly on opening cinematics, and possibly even the rest of the video, although I may not do that as it may be overdone otherwise. (EDIT: I can't control them how I want them to, and i'm not able to hide away the flare at certain objects, so none of them look good. Only Adobe Premiere has a good lensflare. Shame) (EDIT:EDIT - I found a way to do it through key-framing. It just needs masses of polishing to get the exact spots for the flare right. but you guys deserve it anyway!)

I might be able to show you mouseovers, but it will be quite obvious when you watch the actual video.

I've also been speaking more with LiberatingPulse, and it turns out that we are quite in sync. We have "so much in common" according to him, such as a love of food. I'm just going to get ready for a dinner date now.... Anyway, i've been working on timings with him, because he has remixed some of his new songs from his unreleased EP for me to use, and i've also been busy working on an end of video like card, in which I can give links to other videos and whoever made the music, etc. I might not include it, but what the hey! if you guys don't think it's a good idea, I won't include it but there you go.

Now for the bit you really want; an ETA. I should have my PVR back in a day or two (along with my new headset so I have a mic that isn't awful - Link I'm getting them on a much better deal, don't worry i'm not insane! My money is going towards a newer version of VStudio Pro that can take advantage of my ivy bridge i5 processor, both for optimisation and multi-core support. Should get up to a 30x improvement in responsiveness and FR dropping, so for the dropped frames and stutters it will help hugely. And the ETA, i'm notg forgetting, just rambling; by Sunday. As soon as I have my PVR back, the latest upload time will be the day after.

I can't wait to show you guys what i've been doing with this. I say it time and time again, but this really is my best video yet!

What kind of capture card do you use? HD PVR, Roxio game capture or a Dazzel. I use a Roxio Game Capture, it's the same the HD PVR if you export the file in the right quality.

I've stood true by a HD-PVR. Roxio is actually pretty poor for component inputs and Dazzles are not HD and massively overpriced for their quality.

When doing cinematic editing, you can't settle for upscaled like you do in the Roxio.

What, do you mean component inputs. I agree with you on the Dazzel. Here is one of my videos, the quality is very good. I use a Roxio.

Compared to the PVR it's low quality. (sorry to be cruels!)

The shadows don't show through well
    Text is blurred and warped
Reolution is not "true" 720/1080p. The roxio only captures in 360p and then just stretches the picture.

And by component inputs, I mean Red, Blue, Green (one for each colour) instead of just Yellow (for everything) in the RGA inputs. So the component RGB gives through data at high definition 720/1080p, but the roxio can only get it in 360p, which makes it no better than an easycap with an S-Video.

This is a pretty poor comparison, but it shows with the text coming up and visual quality. When you imagine that the pictures have been made full screen it makes a huge difference.

    Compare

Here is proof that the EzCap is the exact same when used with S Video

    Clicky

And the PVR slaughters them all.

If it were £30 then the Roxio would be a good solution, but it's too expensive for what you essentially achieve with a £15 EzCap that is almost thrice as cheap.

EDIT: Finished (and polished) the first lensflare. They arn't going into every shot, because they don't make sense otherwise. Why would an enclosed place have lensflare :O The bottom of the flare fades out when it meets the rock too, which is really cool. That rock being there was the main reason I originally took them out, but since I found out how to manipulate stuff that Corel didn't intend the filters to be for. because the filter isn't great in itself, I can't control both ends of the flare, just the top end where the light comes from. it became a choice between slower moving flares or the light source, and it looked miles better keeping the light source accurate. Therefore a few of them will look a little bit odd, but I still like them. Work wonders for cinematic effects. Plus it also forces me to tailor needs to each individual clip using it, so I can spend more time perfecting the clips as I go.

This should be the final version of the introduction (bar any minor tweaks, which are unlikely)

Are you doing any text with motion tracking? Or do they just have a slide movement? Anyways this is looking great. I like the color corection and some depth of field you seem to be using (correct me if im wrong). Are you able to do alot more with your new computer (rendering, etc.) than your old, or is it just faster?

Actually, VStudio X3 doesn't support fully moving text, just coming in from North, North East, West, etc up to your point. The speed isn't controllable either. I'm going to get X5 Ultimate for christmas, which does support it however.
Motion tracking is not supported at all. I like having full control over these things though.

The lensflare is all keyframed in manually. So every time it fades under a rock, I have to fade it in and out using three frames, whilst still tracking the light source manually.

The depth of field stuff is not an apply-able FX, same with high quality colour correction. I nearly always end up doing things in a way in which corel didn't intend them to be used. For example, when I did the blur-fades in Orion, I had to set up an average, keyframe in the change, and then combine that with a crossfade. For the extra hue, rather than use the hue tool which brings up shadow a bit too much, i've used enhanced lighting, and then used the shadowing effect in the lightness and contrast FX.

What I think you have thought to be depth of field is a diffused blur and "light" filter I have used (which really I use for darkening but altering the exposure to give a more cinematic, more atmospheric feel) that I in. Very simple, but adds masses of depth, and helps to separate out parts of the map. For example, in the preview window with the rocks showing, the light now glistens off all of them differently due to my placing of the blur, so they come off as different colours. If I had a macro ability (which I think there is in X5 ultimate :D) then I could further extend the depth by making the background blurred out. Especially if I had rotoscaping, which as far as I know is only avaliable in Vegas Pro. If I had all the tools I wanted, I would need After Effects, Vegas Pro, VSutdio X5 Ultimate and Premiere Pro. Just a bit much, haha! It's good and bad working with constraints though. Good because it forces me to have really high quality camerawork and polish, but bad because I can't quite get what I want.

But part of what you think is depth of field is purely down to camerawork alone. I spend hours on camerawork. Take something, retake, retake, retake. Then take the actual thing.

As for my new computer, X3 isn't able to take full advantage of my four cores at all, or only partly my GTX 500ti. X5 has been designed and optimised specifically for Ivy Bridge, so the stuttering I am getting when using 5 FX layers should go away!

As for general use, my new computer just simply blitzes my old one. With my old one, I had to compress files for editing and use them through smart proxy (320x280 resolution) and any new video tracks, especially quick ones just crashed, end of. With this, I can have my 5 FX tracks editing in 1080p with barely any lag (most of which is caused by VStudio not supporting my hardware) As for rendering, these videos took a good hour on my old computer. 10 minutes or so now. I absolutely love it.

    Put it like this.

My old CPU was an E4400 (slower than the one in the benchmark) and my new one is an i5-3550 (faster than the 2500k) Plus nearly triple ram and no more 32 bit vista, and it's really, really quick. I do miss my old thing though. I still use it for capturing though. In the Sexbox room. So yes, it's a lot faster, I can do alot more (such as have more than 4 tabs open in chrome -_- and render faster) and it's more nippy overall. I really think I got a good deal on it. PCPartPicker wants £670 odd when I got mine for £534 from DinoPC (not on offer anymore sadly) and its actually well under £500 putting in the compensation they gave me for buggering things up with the build (Dirt 3, Bordlerlands 2, Logitech Keyboard) I'm also pleased that I spent more on a mobo. Partly for the performance boost, partly for the features. I have a full graphical equaliser, which for an audiofile like myself is brilliant. I can also automatically throttle my fans to keep things running silky quiet and save electricity too.

So anyway, rambling aside, thanks for the compliments, it should be out tomorrow, and my new PC is miles ahead of my old build.

I capture in 360p but I still render in 1080p. I think the Roxio is better if you first start a youtube channel. Example: You buy a 200 dollar HD PVR and you get a total of 10 views per video. Or, you buy a 70 dollar Roxio and your channel get 10 views per video.By now you give up on your channel after about 10-20 videos.(Both examples)Which would you chose and tell me why.

oh no, for startin you are totally right. Thats why I started with an easycap. I was merely saying as a device (if money didn't matter) then the PVR has better quality

The PVR is back! And I have a new headset too! I'm only in it for the mic really, but I made a new stand from K-Nex. It's in the general discussion post btw.

*cough* uploading Crosswalk NOW! *cough cough*

Youtube seems to have forgotten how to play music. On youtube.com the audio is about 5 frames out, but on mobile devices it is perfect. In the description is a possible fix to the youtube.com problems, if you find the audio to be unsynced. Sorry!

    -_-

So feel free to submit maps for my next video! I've just gotten a new headset (and built a second mic stand for it:D) So the edited minecraft series will be back with Kingdom of the Sky 2 (if you have been watching the first series, which you all should be doing...)

Hey Oli, I just wanted to let you know that my buddy Chaos did a vid for me on REDRUM. So please disregard the previous submission. I would have loved you to do it for me but I know you have many video's on your list of things to do. Plus, he offered...how could I decline? Thanks bud, I hope you'll consider my next map:)
