Angst Created by xzamplez Recommended Players: 2-6 Supported Gametypes: Oddball, Slayer, Team Slayer Our dearest admin Shock Theta has imposed a maximum pun quota upon the writers here at the Hub of Forge. Sadly, we're now only allowed one pun per paragraph, and this settlement was only reached after many long, grueling hours of debate. But who am I to question the word of the almighty yellow name? Nobody, that's who. I'm a good little moderator who plays by the rules, and play by the rules I will. Now, I know you've all been anxious to hear about this feature, so I'll quit rambling and get down to business; real talk style. It happens very rarely that I can't find something to complain about on a map, especially in terms of its design. Most maps have built-in, fundamental flaws that simply can't be fixed without a total redesign, and even that can cause new problems to arise from the ashes of the old. Angst is an exception; it may not have many stand out features, but the design is to be respected. Every inch of Angst has evidence of thought, from the carefully crafted lines of sight, to the differing characteristics of each of the four main rooms. A few tactical jumps have also been scattered throughout the map in useful, but non-essential locations. The camo and custom power-ups are placed on pedestals that make them both more difficult to retrieve and more exposed - the classic risk vs. reward adage at work. To top it all off, one of the most interesting things I've found about Angst is its top side/bottom side balance, where one could argue that the bottom side is even more powerful than the top, not enough to distort flow drastically, but enough to nearly nullify the ever-present height advantage of the top side. Angst did not break barriers, nor did innovate or invent. It did not start a massive trend, and it does not have the shiniest gimmick of them all. And it doesn't even have a tree. What Angst does, is it sets an example of what to strive for when making maps of any kind. That, in my book, deserves recognition. Isn't this just a pleasent surprise? Congratulations to Xzamplez; this is definitely deserving of a feature and has been long in the running! Is this the old version or the updated one? I sincerely hope you're joking. This one of the most deserving maps I can think of. Perhaps, if you can somehow manage to wrench that gigantic head of yours out from inside of your ass, you'd realize that not every feature reflects the author of a map over its quality. All of this is despite the fact that (to the best of my knowledge) this map is in no way affiliated with MLG.
I thought the timing was interesting considering we spent a good deal of our last session together talking about how awesome this map was x)
Definitely deserving. Out of all the 1v1s I have tested, this one stood out from the crowd. Great job on this.
Thank you guys for the feature. I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty happy about it. @Flamingo, Cluck, and Organite: Thanks. @Bows: Nothing about this map is MLG, so I don't understand the comment.
I think he was referring to a problem member that will undoubtedly see this comment and make himself known in an obtuse manner shortly thereafter.
Grrr, I'll never get a feature! Jk, I also like this map though I am far from a 1v1 fan. I just wish these type of ideas, themes, and aesthetics could be done in a 4v4, which I know is impossible. I guess it's more that I resent 1v1s than hate them. I dig this one, it stands out for sure as well as Ace's maps. Those and this are the cream of the crop imo.
Wow, and right before the feature goes up on THFE. You guys beat me to it. Oh well, this is a superb map and is certainly deserving of a feature here as well. I thought Kuroda's description was apt: no it doesn't innovate, but it just does a ****ing awesome job of being a well-designed map with fantastic gameplay. Good work Xzamplez. Also, well never mind i won't get into replying to some of the dumb posts made by above members as that never seems to get anywhere.
C'mon guys, let's not get all crazy here. It's a cool map that got featured in this thread, remember? And bows doesn't need this to get attention, he has a neon lime green name & a bright yellow custom title, lol.
Wow, if it was a joke, I apologize. I was under the assumption that you had immediately decided that the map was "MLG appeasement," and were here to express your annoyance. My nasty reply wasn't tailored to you; I would have said something similar to anyone who decided to come in and make such a ignorant accusation. I was thrown off by two things: The smiley (or in this case, frowny) you left, and your vote in the poll. Your opinion on the map (as per shown in the poll) is just that, and I have no grounds to bother you about it. It just tipped the scales in a measure of unsurity regarding what your post was meant to convey. I thought you were trying to say "Oh, this map is nothing special, it must have only been featured to appease the MLG community." Furthermore, the -.- in your post is an emoticon that usually expresses annoyance or disappointment, which would make sense if you were truly unsatisfied with the feature. I'm sorry; I'm not going to ride you about not presenting your sarcasm well enough, because I'M the one who needs to apologize. I'm all for continuing this if it will assure that there are no hard feelings, but let's take it to PMs, for the sake of letting Angst enjoy the feature thread it deserves. I don't think this site needs another pissing contest; and I don't want us causing conflict where conflict is totally unnecessary.
I've played countless 1v1's on Angst, its become a staple for design and permanently fixed itself in my playlist. Balls have seriously been dropped, I'm so excited about this feature; I hope it inspires others to give 110% to their thought process and reduce all the lazy forging out there. Angst may be the result of some faustian bargain but at least it presents a true xzample of what we strive for when designing a map. Great work, congrats and looking forward to your future projects.
Oh, my post was deleted. That's sad... As I said before, congratz on the feature dude. This map is one of the most well deserving maps on forge hub of earning one. And Sarcasm, stop being such a Lolburg. @Staff: Could have just edited the insults out of my original post. Slackers.
Nice spelling schnitzel. Apparently my post was also deleted to remove all trace of your idiocy. I think the fact that you're not complaining about this being featured is more of a compliment than anyone can give the map.
hey mine too! Anyways, Angst is indeed a great map. It supports 2v2 well while usually quick enough for 1v1. feature worthy.
One of my biggest issues was he GL spawn early on, but kuda informed me you changed positions. Nice feature. I won't talk about how nibbs and kuda massacred me on this. Oh wait I just did.
This is one of the cleanest forged maps I've seen in a long time. May be enough to break my Halo drought to go and check it out. Seems like it's definitely deserving of FHF. Well done. icwutudidther
