Okay, I'm building this map that is based of Valhala. Not the buildings or aesthetics, but the gameplay. I want to be able to play 4v4 and 8v8. But what I want to know is should I include vehicles. And if I do, which ones. Here's two pics so you can see what it's like. Thanks!
It all comes down to how the map plays with and without them. At most I'd say a chain hog and a couple of mongooses each, maybe a ghost too. Then test the map and see what the outcome is, then change the set up and test again, to make sure they work with the map. If you do decide to include vehicles, make sure you include some anti-vehicle weaponry to counter the vehicles. That was the reason Valhalla played well with vehicles as the weapons on the map were able to counter them, but as the Reach vehicles are made of paper it may be a bit different.
A ghost or two is all you can fit here. The Hog will not work because of both the map's size and because there is only 1 way to drive between the bases, requiring a 180º turn every time you want to go to the other side of the map. There just are not enough paths for a Hog here. Even ghosts will feel a bit cramped, but they will still work possibly.
Mongoose definately! How else will you get the feel of CTF from Valhalla with out a little transport. I'm not a big fan of vehicles that get kills easily on a small map like this. The Hog seems to big and at a fixated point could slaughter opponents.
Thanks for advice people I might have 2 mongoose and 1 ghost. But as sky said I'll have to test it. Thanks!
It looks a little small for 8v8 to me. Just see how it plays without vehicles, then add them accordingly. I doubt it is going to hold all of the vehicles found on Valhalla though. Its allllll about the testing.
Seems too linear. You can't easily flank your enemy because there really isnt any way to. Open up some side paths. And I'd go with ghost.
^This. I'd say don't do any other vehicles anyway. I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to Slayer maps, but I know a thing or two about forging in general and this map looks too cramped to me to function well if you're going to use, say, warthogs. The driving would be monotonous and straight forward, and because the map is so small and narrow, any foot soldiers wouldn't stand a chance to pass by the vehicles either. Besides, nowadays it seems everybody feels all BTB maps should have vehicles, so I'd definitely like to see some more infantry maps again, such as Longshore from Halo 3. And there are plenty of good vehicular maps already. But like Sky said, it's probably best to test both variants and see which one works better in the end.
I play btb for the vehicles.not Many other playlists do have them.however it does not mean as you said, all btb maps need vehicles.ph and for the map.try a neutral ghost but much more then that and you might get crowded.
