Hey! I have an interesting thing to say regarding the minimum heght a platform can be at underwater before a player dies. I was screwing around with a freind in forge, I was an Elite and he was a Spartan. We discovered that Elites can survive exactly .1 digit lower in water than Spartans. I dont know if anyone else has found this, but I think it could make for some interesting Invasion maps!
I've never heard of that before. Would be really cool for Invasion indeed! Does it also make a difference which block you use, or is it always .1 digit lower no matter what the surface is?
I knew this because a certian screenshot effective know requires this rule to work for elites.it works for any surface the same but it is only .1 digit lower.
I personally hate any competitive map that involves being submerged in water but I think it could be used for an interesting mini-game where only elites can use the water.
Actually this doesn't have to be in water. You should be able to place a kill zone on the ground to kill spartans but not elites. It would only work on a flat map but in a spartan defense map you should be able to prevent spawn camping using this.
I suppose that could work, but the water would make it seem a lot more believable. You could have the Elites as sharks or something XD.
Can I include my shield door mechanic from my map, revolutions? http://www.forgehub.com/forum/reach-competitive-maps/139691-revolutions.html#post1525598
Didn't sound like anything that special from what I read in the thread. Could you explain better here please?
It works like the jump pads, but backwards the one way shield door only effects you if you use the lift, once you go up the lift, the one way shield door forces you back down, so that you don't get launched into the air. otherwise you walk/jump over it normally. I found out that if you come under the effect of a shield door and are forced in some direction, as long as you stay in the influenced area (in this case, the one way shield door is facing upwards, so the effect area is the 2x2 block above and below it) you continue to act as if you are still being pulled by the shield door. if you never contact the influencing area "trigger", then you move about normally I placed the shield door so that you would trigger the effect going up, but also moved it far enough so that it only effects you when you use the lift.
You should add in the trick used in many infection maps where a timed door can be created using only two one-way shields.
I meant to add that when you showed me on aihab then completely forgot. I'll finish it sometime today.
