Mojang and 4J Studios is already getting an unprecedented amount of leeway with the 360 version by offering its updates for free. Microsoft usually has final say over any XBLA game and given Minecraft's unique situation and popularity they were willing to allow what is essentially free dlc. So getting the money from skin packs instead is perfectly understandable.
I guess so. I still can't wait until they announce when we get creative mode and better seed generation. I've been wanting to build an Obsidian Tower in the middle of a map but I can't stand to waste my redstone.
Called it. I knew they would charge money for user made content from PC. Its already the best selling game ever do they really need to make u pay for texture packs and skins. Mojang should have read their contract better i doubt they would have liked MS nickel and dimeing you past the initial purchase.
Well, I really hope they don't start selling skins and textures, I don't see why they would since the PC gets them for free, on the other hand games do like to make you buy worthless crap that really should be free, or at least unlockable. (Gears of War 3 gun camo.)
PC version =/= xbox version. As soon as people start realizing this the less I'll have to explain how this works. Yes, the xbox version is a port of the PC version but it has a different set of rules it must follow. Microsoft has strict control over what gets added to Xbox Live Arcade as well as the DLC that gets released for it. Mojang struck a deal with Minecraft because of the unique situation regarding the 360 version not being equivalent to the retail PC version. The deal was 4J studios would be allowed to make several updates to it (and remember, these updates don't have to follow the same update timeline the original Minecraft did) for free. Now there is a fair amount of content in these updates and to any other game they would be considered DLC. So if you're Microsoft you're essentially be shafted money on these large content updates so they must get it other ways. In comes optional flare for your characters that does not impact the game in any way. For the same reason I can't get a deck editor for the Xbox version of Magic the Gathering, if you want features of the PC version, get the PC version.
Considering we're going to be able to choose what skin we want out of the first 8, the only way I'm going to get this skin pack is if they have one of the Doctors in it. But hey, look on the brightside. On the 18th if you do this directly from your dashboard, you can download a free set of 5 skins for this Summer of Arcade thing MS is doing.
Well I have actually come to accept the xbox one, because of its limiting me to only build in survival.
