Currently watching Legend of Korra Season one. So far, I like the animation style better than the original, it just seems to all around be a better made show. And I loved the first one. It's also less goofy and the characters aren't as childish, which is a cool step.

One thing I don't really get is that the bending all seems way toned down, everyone seems to be shooting small fireballs or whips of water, instead of big torrents of flame, and moving sea-weed monsters, etc.

 

yeah the martial arts is a lot less traditional. it's all boxing and MMA inspired, i don't like it as much either, but its the most logical way to go regarding context.

also a lot of the action is probending, where big torrents of flame would be a penalty. lol.

 

Yeah, that's true. But I'm talking about when they're not "Pro-Bending". It just seem way toned down. I think the most "Powerful" bending I've seen is when some dude got his powers taken, he was shooting giant bolts of lightning, which looked like something all the characters could have done in the original one.

But the choreographing they're doing in this one is awesome, I like the rough mma inspired martial arts.

 

yeah, it gets awesomer as it progresses. nothing like giant avatar state water salamanders or anything, but it does get more badass.

 

That's cool, it's not a huge deal. Just something I noticed.

I love the industrial age kind of feel though, especially in the music they sometimes play on the radio.
