I'll most likely end up getting it at some point. Although has anyone seen any mention of Conquest yet? For another spin-off it looks pretty decent.

So... Black 2 and White have an English release date of October 7, according to the official site. That's, about 3 months away? Damn, I've been trying to avoid spoilers but from the snippets I've read the game is packed with tons of cool content. I can't wait to see for myself.

At least the waiting period between the Japanese and the English release is shorter this time around.

yeah I personally can't wait for B2/W2 to come out. The gen 5 pokemon aren't the greatest, but at least we get to use some older ones this time.

Yeah, I know they are reluctant to working a while on quality pokemon, but if the franchise keeps going on this path - well, I think quality work is the only thing that matters if they want pokemon to retain that magical and personal feeling.

Still, it bewilders me how in the world they thought a floating ice-cream ghost would be a credible excuse for a pokemon!? Especially when you compare the 5th gen to the older gens. Not that there weren't some incredibly cool pokemon in 5th gen.
For example, I hope they expand upon Heatmor and those elemental monkeys; although, it seems to me that only the green monkey has a strong personality - or at least interesting one.

And while most people hated Garbador, over time, I actually grew to love it - I don't know why, but it's actually a cool concept. It's not like Muk or Grimer didn't come from pollution, or that Electrode and Voltorb didn't come from the concept of a pokeball.
I just wish that the colors were different perhaps to blend in with the other pollution pokemon.

Yeah, some of the pokemon were jokes to me, but I felt gen 5 fits in well with the rest of them.

My top 5 favorites (the ones that are cool or with decent concepts behind them):

    1. Scrafty -Fighting and dark; and love their look
    2. Haxorus - The name basically
    3. Darmantian - He fits the qualifications for Donkey Kong pretty well
    4. Hydreigon - Dark/Dragon typing; plus it's pretty much blue-eyes ultimate dragon from yu-gi-oh
    5. Chandelure - The names and evolutions fit very well Imo. Overall, it's cool and has great special attack.

    Top 5 jokes:

    1. Patrat/Watchog - Patrat is basically an angry mix between bidoof and ratatta, and watchog just looks idiotic.
    2. Vanilluxe - You've explained it
    3. Klingklang - horrible names; and these don't even evolve, new pieces just become attached
    4. Druddigon - Appreciate the amazing artwork
    5. woobat/swoobat - You can tell they were running out of ideas.

Anyways, just thought I'd spark up more discussion

Let's see here...this is my original set for 5th gen.

    1. [IMG]
I chose Tepig (eventually having an Emboar) mostly because everyone else seemed to be starting with grass this gen.
While the details are different, and more prominent, I like the Pokemon a ton! It's strong, intimidating (from such a cute animal) and it feels just like when I had Typhlosion. Also, I just figured out this year that the starting pokemon follow the Chinese calender. 0.o

    2. [IMG]
In desperate need to find a cool water pokemon, I chose Seismitoad. The warts may be dysfunctional compared the figure of the body (which you wouldn't see in the older gens), but it's a good water pokemon that can handle multiple fronts, given that it is also a ground type.

    3. [IMG]
While this pokemon was one of my favorites to begin with - virtually no problems at all - I would of enjoyed normal eyes, with instead of shades, a concept of a robber mask. That just would of been my preference.

    4. [IMG]
    Cofagrigus, oh yeah!! :D

    5. [IMG]
Braviary is that killer bird I've always wanted. Not that there weren't others in previous gens, but being that they never resembled an eagle pokemon before, I got to say it's a beautiful monster in the sky. I just wished there was an inbetween version as well.

    6. [IMG]
I always tend to save one spot for one of the legendary pokemons - and it turns out that a dragon/electric type went incredibly well with my other pokemon.

    Now.
Here are the worst pokemon of the generation.
1.Watchdog - as you said, a terrible mix, and it just looks like a stick lol. Like some shiskibob.
2.Stoutland - there is NO difference between this pokemon and an ordinary dog, except for all the hair it has. If excessive hair is considered a pokemon, then I may need to catch every 80's rock singer as well.

3.Zebstrika - a zebra could of been cool, except the stripes are incredibly jagged and don't understand it at all. For large, four legged electric pokemon, I think features from Raikou would of been something to marginally expand upon. Instead of just drawing a zebra with a large zig-zag hairline all the way down it's back.

4.Swoobat - as anyone could guess, wtf? lol
    [IMG]

5.Gurdurr - I usually love the fighting types, and I tried really hard to love Gurdurr and it's line of evolution - but this one was just so disproportional. It's waist give the appearance of a supermodel, and what are supposed to be cool veins look like swimming tubes. I view this specific pokemon's line as an attempt to recreate Machamp, Machop, and Machoke to a new generation - but if I imagine and compare the two lines of evolution, what an odd looking fight that would be. Machamp takes a realistic figure - meaning it's body is adapted to a realistic environment, while Gurdurr looks like it will fall from it's own upper-body weight and it's head looks like a ball of mush.

6.Sigilyph - I was a bit sad to see this one. I know it's psychic and can levitate, but it's just a bunch of sticks glued to a flying totem-pole.

    7.Vaniluxe - already explained
    [IMG]

8.Amoongus - A determined mushroom. Sure it's grasstype and focuses on the use of poison and special moves to win - but it's literally a mushroom only with pokemon balls as hands to try and deter other pokemon. I will eat it to put it out of it's misery! AH XD
    [IMG]

9.Stunfisk - a flat fish that sits at the bottom of a body of water. If it weren't so wet, I imagine it would fall like a leaf in the sky when releasing it.

There are others I don't like, but these ones take the cake...and I'm not usually so negative - but it seems like pokemon really cheated the community on this one. I know everyone has heard a lot of 1st gen and 5th gen comparisons, but 1st gen, EVERY pokemon was made as a pokemon worth having. Even Chansey, Jigglipuff - they were all cute pokemon, but could take a hit. Some new pokemon just seem cute for the sake of being cute, while others like Stunfisk for example can't relate to ANYONE. It's a wasted pokemon with no use other than being a stat. It's dumb, but doesn't evolve into anything.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a lot of the new pokemon, but they need to finally learn their mistakes.

Also, the bear pokemon (as Ursuring's counterpart) looks like a pinhead with snotsticles coming out of it's nose that are used as weapons. Perhaps he would be Bo-bobo's sidekick.

    [br][/br]
    Edited by merge:

And I agree with Klingklax and Druddigon. Kingklax could have been a cool concept (kind of reminding me of Starmie at first), but nothing happened with the evolutions...and the name seems 'on the spot' made up.

Druddigon is just a dragon pokemon with too many spikes and jagged edges on itself. The 5th gen had some fetish for blatant spiky edges.

It had those jagged stripes because it's an electric pokemon and they look like thunderbolts :p.

I guess seeing as everyone else is doing it, I might as well list my favourites from Gen V.
    1. Haxorus: By far my favourite pokemon from Gen V. I enjoyed using it enough to use it as my main pokemon during my first playthrough and it really just looks awesome. Over time it's continued to grow on me and has moved ahead of both Salamence and Dragonite (**** you Garchomp) as my favourite dragon-type.

    2. Krookodile: This entire evolution line is just great. With Krookodile, I'm reminded of the Kremlings from Donkey Kong Country, which is never a bad thing.

    3. Braviary: While I haven't had the chance to do so yet, I certainly plan on having a Braviary in my team at some point in the future. Easily one of the coolest looking Pokemon since Pidgeot.

    4. Galvantula: Probably the first bug type that I've actually cared about. There isn't much to say here, it looks cool and it does its job in battle.

    5. Serperior: This is one sexy serpent. Looks like a total boss and fights like one too. What else is there to say?

Aaand now for the ones I hate the most:
    1. Bouffalant: It looks like Tauros went back to the 60s. Get that **** outta here pl0x.

    2. Druddigon: The fact that its head is a different colour to the rest of its body drives me insane.

    3. Darmanitan:That creepy ass smile needs to go.

    4. Emboar: Ugliest start evolution to ever exist. There's just too much going on with Emboar.

    5. Vanniluxe:Yeah, I don't even have to explain why this is bad.

I may as well post the team I used in-game:

    [IMG][IMG]

    1. Serperior: Definitely my favorite starter. Grass has it the worst, but I like how he is fast, has good defenses, and can use coil to become a threat. Basically, he could fight well neutrally (with leaf blade and return) while sapping seismitoad and carracoasta with giga drain.

    2. Throh: I was hoping I could get Sawk, but he's hard to find in White. Still though, this throh was actually pretty fast (jolly nature). throh is one of the best pokemon you can get early in the game, and it was proven reliable late in the game. I honestly didn't use him much in the elite four, but someone had to kill hydreigon :p

    3. Archeops: Despite what his ability does to him, he's pretty abusable in game when factoring in weak AI's and access to potions. There was almost no touching him as he OHKO'd the fighting pokemon acrobatics and 2HKO'd the bulky ghost/psychic pokemon with crunch

    4. Darmantian: It was annoying to raise, but he destroyed against N and Ghetsis, using flare blitz and superpower

    5. Jellicent: This was an odd pick, considering his difficulty to raise, but he was pretty useful. I would have went with seismitoad as my water type, but I wanted a ghost type as well to fight the psychic/ghost trainers with shadow ball. He would also work against the fighting types with Will o wisp and surf

    6. Zekrom: Self-explanitory. It's always nice to play with 5 pokemon so you can use an HM slave and bench it for this.

The team I used the first time consisted of:

    samurott
    scrafty
    Excadrill
    Haxorus
    Chandelure
    Zekrom

This team appeared as amazing, but I nearly got shut down by Hydreigon (considering he's one speed point faster than haxorus). So the second team above did alot better.
