Interesting to see that they are using the "bake in" idea with regards to at least lighting. Indicates that they have really been working on FR lag, and how close H4 is to the X360's processing power. (I also suggested baking parts in )
no **** bra i just said that in Reach you had more budget and stuff was more expensive, which is comparable with inflation in real life.
I could say the same but... anyway I'm hoping to that these things were just the tip of whats gonna be in forge.
Personally, I'm really interested in the dynamic lighting and shadows. It could have some interesting side effects. For example, if I built a big box out of coli walls, with no openings, would the inside of that box be completely (or at least pretty) dark? Second, will you be able to create shadows using forgeable lights? If so, could you have an item with multiple shadows, all going in different directions? Or would the game only accept/render one of them? And will pieces with lights on them mess with their own shadows when those lights activate? Question, questions.
If the other two maps have different textures and framerate is harder to come by, than I'll be more than happy. And I'm thinking we only saw a little section of that forge map. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Building pieces are only $150. Just look closely at the video.
Found this longbow gameplay from RTX "Halo 4" Infinity Slayer On Longbow Multiplayer Gameplay - YouTube
More stuff from Bravo: FIRST EVER Halo 4 Live Commentary - Multiplayer Gameplay on Haven - Bravo @ RTX - YouTube I think he also said he was gonna try and do a commentary of the boys vs. girls game on Longbow that he played in.
Well, you could go pretty far off in the skybox when they played that Horse game, further than I would have guessed, but that island seems too far off. Still, last time that started by showing only the canyon, so who knows what may or may not have been left out. And finally some Lognbow gameplay.
HE SAID THE SECRET WORD!!!! lol but seriously, they have to be holding back at this point. It's going to be a long time until launch, and they need to keep us excited the whole time. I'm looking forward to the three forge environments, and if it means I have to (not have to but if it's the more cost effective way to get all three) buy the Limited Edition, then I expect we'll be seeing them relatively soon. At least teased, just so we know what we're buying. I imagine we'll see something along with a finished H4 interface in the next month or so, judging by what they showed at RTX. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Wait, where? I missed that..
you said it as if a higher budget automatically meant higher priced items, which doest really seem to be the case from what i've seen. as someone said earlier, it seemed like only items that would be likely to cause framerate issues have a much higher price. the bridge piece looked like it cost 100.
it makes me wonder if 343i even looks at what we post here, but yes I'm stoked for the game, please god don't let 343i ignoring gameplay for looks causing FRL, btw whats this Longbow gameplay that this person named IRL speaks of?
They already get an insurmountable amount of feedback on the forums they created specifically for that purpose, expecting them to go out and actively trawl through fansites for feedback is pretty outlandish imo, regardless of affiliations.
I kinda figured "Halo 4" Forge Mode Gameplay Preview - YouTubeget a look at some other blocks EDIT: found sum gamplay on longbow Halo 4 - Longbow Multiplayer World Exclusive (RTX) - YouTube
Well, that forge video there is extremely disappointing. Every object in there is in forge world on Reach. They look better here, but come on!?
Again...why is that disappointing? They haven't shown the entire forge palette and even if every single piece was the same as Reach, so what? I don't get this fascination people have with different looking pieces. There is only so many ways a block can look, I'm sure there will be all sorts of different looking aesthetic/decoration pieces but for the meat of forge there is blocks. There are thousands of quality forge maps out there and many of them look as different from one another as can be, even with mostly "grey" pieces. Maybe there will be expanded options for coloring the pieces, all of that is unclear. I mean how about some priorities. I would be much more disappointed if the video showed a hint of framerate lag due to the dynamic lighting or increased forge budget then not getting another color of building block.
All I'm saying is that it would be straight up moronic for 343 to give us resources that we can't use. I don't expect to be able to place every object in the palette 10x over, but it would be frankly arrogant of 343 to add compulsory features that would absolutely cripple the framerate on a decent-sized map. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with speculation as long as it doesn't come to be accepted as fact without justification, right? I appreciate your concern, however; it's fair to say that we all hope 343 do what's right when it comes to Forge.
