Pretty much my thoughts. I even deleted that comment because I realized it wasnt any demonstration. Though in the conversations now I just heard there are several forge pallets, no weather or day/night settings, but dynamic lighting. No edit key is in forge, though there is a repeat button (If I just heard that correctly)
For those not watching. They confirmed there isn't weather settings in forge, but there ARE many different forge pallets aside from the forge world looking one that they just showed off. They also referred to the forge world looking map as the most tame of all the environments, so I think we can expect some good new forgeable maps )) EDIT: Also a new forge feature include being able to repeat an item
So basically what we're looking out now is the ability to pick from several forgeworld maps, each with different pallets and weather/stuff to itself? Also, I'm thinking the repeat button will work like, instantly spawning the same item at the same orientation that you just had, so you won't have to turn every piece if you don't want.
Yep, that's how it works, there is also a magnet toggle and lock item toggle. It also appears that Reach items are reappearing on the map they showed, possibly only on that map. We also seem to be seeing the return of of object phasing.
Magnet toggle is what it sounds like. If on, items will seemingly snap together edge to edge so you don't need to spend time lining them up.
Lock Item: Fix an object to the position it was placed in. (I would assume to prevent accidental moving of items) Magnet Toggle: Attach an object to another and create a perfect surface. (For example, attach 2 bridge pieces together and they are perfectly aligned.)
With the magnet feature, can you attach objects together, and then move them all at once? And if so, can you use the duplicate/repeat feature to replicate that combination of objects? Also, Which surfaces are perfectly aligned? Two objects could have different heights, and while once side would be completely aligned, the others wouldn't be. Is there a way to select this?
So magnet makes items flush(I feel like there's a more accurate term) against eachother? And I'm running on 3G, so watching a live stream isn't ideal. If somebody could post a YouTube video of this stuff if they find it before me it would be appreciated
They did not show that unfortunately. Well, they aligned a bridge medium to a round bunker and the flat surfaces looked pretty flush to me. As for selecting, that was one of the first things they showed off was even if there were a pile of objects in one location, the object you had selected would have a green outline to it.
I think you misunderstood what I was asking about the aligning, but thank you for your answer anyway [br][/br]Edited by merge: That's going to be awesome for mini-game maps. Plus, you can have an "outer space" zone like they did in certain Reach maps.
They didn't really show enough footage of what we can do, they said they would leave that for us to figure out as time went on. So for what we do know is: - Object Position Locking - Magnetic Object Aligning - Trait Zones - Super Special Awesome Lighting System Also: 1h 42min apparently rtxlive2 - Rooster Teeth Expo: Canyon (Day 1)
The "Forge Environment" they're showing looks really good. He says it's one of three forge Environments that the game will ship with. ship with. Maybe DLC? Either way, awesome.
100000 point budget. Also just comming in, Under the building objects menu there, the first option is Ravine, the name of the map, and under it in the description it states: "Select a variant of this object type" There are also 2 types of round bunkers, Bunker Round and Unlit Bunker Round.
But how much do objects cost on average? Around the same amount as Reach, or has 343 implemented a new inflation feature?
Same as Reach. Also just comming in, Under the building objects menu there, the first option is Ravine, the name of the map, and under it in the description it states: "Select a variant of this object type." Could just be items specific to the map however. There are also 2 types of round bunkers, Bunker Round and Unlit Bunker Round. Under special tools Delete By Pallet is also available along with Duplicate Object and another unseen option at the bottom of the menu. Magnets can also be enabled or disabled for an object and the strength of the magnet can be changed. Forge objects can also accept and cast shadows.
