Agreed on the AR; my favorite was the Anniversary one. Though I did like how it's feeble sound matched its feeble performance as time went on. I see the AR, DMR and BR (to an extent the Sniper and Magnum as well) as all sounding like somewhat-similar generic firearm sounds. I would never come close to confusing a Magnum with a DMR in Reach, though the Halo 4 versions of these two weapons seem to sound relatively similar to me. The BR still sounds a tad silenced too, but that's an unrelated comment. The models on other weapons such as the Plasma Pistol and Sniper have gone through changes, but the sounds on those were similar enough to their previous incarnations. I don't mind if they change it up a bit but I quite enjoyed shooting a revamped version of a gun in a previous game and having it feel both familiar and new at the same time. These guns don't do that for me. Actually, this game doesn't look like it's doing that for me. It doesn't feel familiar. It looks nice and will probably play well enough, but I don't really recognize it.
remember that frankie said the sounds will be much different in-game that in the videos. i cant remember what exactly it was, i think he said something about the sounds getting distorted when the videos are being compressed or whatever. but i even like the sounds in the videos.
I heard them say something in one of the interviews about the sound not being finalized in the E3 build. They indicated the final game will probably sound a lot meatier. I hope so. I like guns that go "Bang!" and "BOOM!!", not "bip" and "pfft". And I hope they tell the announcer to quit screwing around and go back to using the wording they used to use. The E3 build felt so dumbed down as far as that goes. Is "remaining" really that much harder to comprehend than "left"? Because it has a completely different intonation and feel to it. If they ship with the E3 build sound, I'm just going to play with the sound off and listen to the H3 menu music on loop while I play lol
They always say "meatier" but the actual timbre of the sounds just don't sound right to me. Not that they are missing beef, it's just the ring and the shape of the sound. If there was a PC version I could almost guarentee that there would be day one mods entitled "gun sounds fix" fyi - my controls would be RT - Shoot LT - Grenade RB - Reload LB - AA Right Stick (Click) - Zoom Left Stick (Clicked Forward) - Sprint Left Stick (Click) - Crouch Back - Scoreboard Start - Pause A - Jump B - Melee X - Switch Grenade Y - Switch Weapon Very much a classic halo control scheme. Nearly the exact same as it was in halo 3, same as recon in reach, just with sprint added ala battlefield.
In the Resident Evil: ORC game, clicking forward makes you sprint, but if you just click it down, it does nothing... so if it can distinguish that, then I'd think it could.
Well it's very much evident in battlefield. Only when you click the stick at full forwardness do you sprint.
**** well then I hope they do make controller schemes like this, cause assigning a button to sprint just screws up the whole layout.
Ummm Dpad down? I think that will switch grenades for default controls, which gives you room for sprint..... I just want bumper jumper with sprint and AA on a and x. Grenades on LT is a must, I hope they give it to us. RT shoot RB melee LT grenade LB jump A Sprint or AA B reload X AA or sprint y switch weapons Dpad down - switch grenade EDIT. Clicking the analog for sprint is ****ing annoying IMO. I'd rather it be on one of the face buttons any day.
what if you want to walk forward while crouching? id rather have sprint on X, i have no problem with switch grenades on the dpad. so that makes it exactly the recon controls we have been shown, which i have no problem with
also what if you're crouch jumping? you run and jump but end up sprinting in the air, and fall to your death.
Yea I think the sprint/crouch combo on one stick would lead to way too many accidents. I.e. somebody wants to slowly crouch walk behind a corner to wait for an enemy but instead accidently sprints and is caught off guard, ruining his chances of getting the kill. Here would be my ideal setup. It's a little mix between CoD (sprint and crouch) and my beloved Bumper Jumper: RT: shoot LT: grenade RB: jump LB: AA A: melee B: crouch X: reload Y: change weapons Left Click: sprint Right Click: zoom D-pad: switch grenades I feel like this set-up would be ideal in terms of player movement, especially those using the Booster Pack AA. Jump, sprint, and AA can all be pressed with both thumbs still on each analog stick.
