I'm pretty sure that's correct. During the MLG vid I counted the time it took a player with the perk on to start recharging and got around 4 seconds, same as it always has been. Shields shot up fast, so I'm assuming it's that charge time. In Reach, the 'Shield Recharge Time' in customs options doesn't change time to begin recharging but rather rate of recharge. I'm pretty sure that perk is going to be something like a 150% buff to that stat.

I still don't like the idea of that perk, or perks at all, but it isn't going to be as game changing as if it changed time to start recharging from 4 to 3 seconds.

Huh, that actually sounds a lot better in terms of the point I'm making, though to be honest it sounds much less appealing as a perk if so.

Yeah, that kind of perk is troublesome because it seems like it naturally falls on one side or the other - either it will be overpowered/too useful and everyone will want it (as it would be if the shields started charging a second sooner), or it will be underpowered and ignored (as it sounds like it might be). That's a hard one to balance. I don't know if I'd bother with a perk that lets my shield charge faster, but only after the usual 4 seconds. But who knows - gotta try that one out in-game, I guess.

If the recharge bonus is big enough and puts you a full shields a second or two sooner, I could see that being useful, and reasonably balanced. There are plenty of times I've found myself getting shot halfway through a shield regen. Or found myself sitting on a recently primed grenade. How long do they take to recharge without the perk?

I'm going to go ahead and guess that the vast majority of players (myself included) will probably use the two primary guns perk the most.

With the weapon drops letting you pick your power weapon, I will probably want a useful secondary I can easily drop and a different perk. I mean, you can still pick up two primary weapons at the same time without the firepower perk, right?

Agree with RST. I think Firepower will likely be the most common Tactical Package, and Mobility (inf. Sprint) the most common Support Package. There definitely the ones that appeal to me the most, though I can see myself experimenting more with the Support Packages than the Tactical ones.

    EDIT:

Yeah I guess, but I can see myself running BR/DMR, BR/Carbine or BR/Storm Rifle, and all of those rely on people choosing those specific weapons as their primaries so you can pick them up. The "you can pick them up" argument doesn't hold much weight when discussion BR or DMR vs. AR starts, I think the same is true here.

Because I'm lazy and blind, would you mind linking me to the list of Support Packages and Tactical Packages, or directing me to it?

I think your are right about firepower, but let's not forget that we have only seen 2 perks. I'm positive more will exist in the final copy, and I am certainly interested in those. Same goes for the tac. package.

So far these 'perks' have seemed very mild and non-game changing to me, and actually nice little quirks on how you play. So far, I think I actually like them (Aside from infinite sprint, I hope that it at lease slows after the normal time frame).

    Tactical Packages:

    Shield Package
    Faster shield recharge rate

    Firepower Package
    Carry 2 primary weapons

    Support Upgrades:

    Ammo Upgrade
    Moar ammo

    Sensor Upgrade
Longer range radar and increased sensiti
vity (see players even if they're still?)

    Awareness Upgrade
Enemy indicator in HUD [when in scope] (good for snipers)

*The above Erico's simplification of the 'perks'.

I'd have to see a list of all the primaries before deciding whether or not I need two of them. If the shotgun is a primary, I might want that with my dmr or BR. I might even have a storm rifle or ar with a precision weapon too, but just carrying around two precision weapons sounds like a waste of a perk to me

Oh, I'm not talking about primaries. I'm talking weapon drops. Depending on the killtimes, I'm probably going to end up running DMR/Magnum, and dropping the Magnum for Scattershot or Sniper whenever I get a weapon drop. I can definitely see the draw of having two rifles, but I prefer a weapon that fills a different niche in my secondary slot. Plasma pistol is an interesting idea. Not really my style, but interesting. Any word on if Spikers are coming back? Oh, and anybody find any gameplay footage of the sniper?

Well the BR and DMR (for example) have different uses. BR is great mid range, and so-so long/short range. DMR excels at long range and is so-so mid/short. It's not a bad idea to use both by any means, I would prefer DMR or BR with Magnum or Plasma Pistol (most likely the latter for vehicle take downs).

But then where is your short range? That's what I was getting at

    Many thanks :p

I do hope that more of these exist; more variety is always nice.

No problem (couldn't say no to those pony eyes), and I'm sure there will be more. This was just the E3 build.

Rorak, all of the perks for both sets have been leaked, but you'd have to search for the , because I'm not really allowed to post them, but I posted a huge summary of them all like, thirty pages ago and we talked about them in this thread.

I really hope that(even if nerfed) the shotgun will be a choosable primary. Shotgun+AR and I will beat anyone at CQB.

I just checked those out and I have to say I'm seriously disappointed again. These perks and AAs are gonna be game-changers. It's probably going to feel very gimmicky.
