Your spam aside, again like I said, if the overshield is either hard to obtain or an uncommon ordinance drop it would be a balancing mechanism. An overshield should equate to an extra life. It's not every person running around or a team running around with a superior advantage for most of a match. It would be one or two people over an entire match who get an added advantage for however brief a time. This is at least how I imagine it could work if this was the case. More likely it would just be tweaked by release because game testers said they didn't like it.

It doesn't need to be "tweaked," it needs to be fixed. As depicted in that video, the invulnerability goes on for too long and has no visual indicator (i.e. unlike in past Halo games, even the player who picked up the OS can't tell how long his invulnerability lasts, unless he mentally times it; in older Halos, you knew as soon as your shield finished charging that you were vulnerable again). Seriously, ten seconds is far, far too much time. In CE and the other games, that period was something like three seconds at most. Ten seconds of invincibility in the hands of a good player could basically amount to a free exterm.

    /extreme eyeroll.

Don't start this semantics **** with me again. Pegasi used the damn word like 2 posts ago.

And all I did was throw out a possibility. If you don't think it is fair enough, all that needs saying.

It's not just "semantics ****" and you know it. You're trying to make out a real problem to be not a problem, just something that can be "tweaked" away. I work for a software company in a customer service capacity - I know all about using words to wiggle out of tough situations.

Can we just speak bluntly for five ****ing seconds? This is a problem, this is (most likely) a bug; this needs to be fixed. It's not a game-breaker but it's pretty damn bad, as anyone who played any Halo prior to Reach (the Halos with overshield in them) would know. That doesn't mean I'm cascading rivers of **** on the game or its developers. It just means I'm calling a spade a spade.

And here's an extreme eyeroll back at you, you condescending ass.

My post that you quoted answers every part of that rant. It was a possibility, not a suggestion, it wasn't my word and regardless the word "tweaking" can mean everything from making the invulnerable time 9 seconds instead of 10 to complete removal, you are adding adding all sorts of conotations to it that I didn't say nor mean in the slightest.

Lastly, no part of any of that post was condescending. There was frustration that you choose to start an argument over an f'in word, so let's keep the name calling at least on point (that was the condescending part). Just because you may not like the possibility I put out there doesn't make it any less a possibility.

Argument stops now. One more and infractions will follow. Be glad I even warned y'all considering there have been numerous warnings in the past.

At least they have added indicators so we can know who has overshields and whatnot.

So according to Halo4follower, bleed through is back. Pretty stoked about that, especially since there is sprint. I hated Reach's beat down system, it promoted beat downs, which is the opposite of what it was meant to do. I think that the return to bleed through is a great decision on 343i part

I'm good with the return of bleedthrough so long as the game is designed around it, which I assume it will be. Bleedthrough as represented in one iteration of the TU was not great. I won't miss double-beatdowners at all though, no matter how bleed is implemented - that was not a good look for a Halo game.

    1) do you think that they will bring back grenades like the spike or flame, and if not i assume it will be extremely difficult to earn up plasmas

    2) I think that they will include moderate weapons in game modes without ordinence, otherwise they would be killing the system

    3) how do you think that these changes (custom loadouts/ Weapon Drops) will affect the capabilities of forging... will grenades not be a place-able object??

tbh, I do kinda have to agree with nut here.

10 second overshield is basically time to get 2+ free kills, and then gain an extra life, and then gain an extra one on top of that. Considering that Halo 4 may possibly be the fastest multiplayer halo has had, I think that making an invicible juggernaught is exactly the best idea.

I assume you mean "isn't the best idea." :) But yes, it's too much. I recall with great clarity using the OS in CE and Halo 2 to inflict massive casualties on the enemy team, particularly on maps where running into clusters of enemies was more common (e.g. Battle Creek, Chill Out and Longest) - that few seconds of invincibility was advantage enough without multiplying it by three. I still say this is probably a bug and will likely be fixed. The 343 developers have to have played enough Halo to realize how potentially problematic that is, particularly in a game with sprint. Imagine playing CTF, getting an OS drop at mid-map and then sprinting into the enemy objective - you can clear the base of anyone you encounter with no danger to yourself, and waltz out with probably most of your OS left for good measure.

To be fair, the Overshield allowing people to go on rampages with the beginning invulnerability needs to go on par with something like the scattershot, which can kill with one shot (if the player uses it correctly) and comes with many shots. However, the power weapons can be stopped if the player uses them poorly or gets killed and the OS invulnerability can only be countered by running away and giving it time. The OS needs a good buff to give incentive to be picked over anything else, but it needs to give other people a chance to counter it. I think that an invulnerability for 3 seconds would be good, with a slower burn rate.

If 343 saw the Carbine and Storm Rifle as fit for a nerf post E3 testing (DMR still looked like a monster, I wish I saw more footage of it), I don't see why they would skim over overshield without realizing it needs to be fixed as well.

See, it's these issues that are why an open (or invite through Waypoint, even) beta would help so much. Sure, people use it to play early but these same people are generally the only way you can find certain breaks and imbalances, particularly because of their exploitative (I hope that's a word) nature.

The scattershot really does seem a bit too OP for me. There is shotgun, which is OK, and then there is that. Way too dominating. In balancing terms, it should have the power of the mauler, leaving the shotgun to be the CQC power weapon. If there are both forms, the scattershot is just too OP for me. We will have to wait n'see

Boy does this sentence seem familiar.

Anyway, how much ammo did the scattershot have? If it was only 1 or 2 spare clips and not laying on the map to be picked up than its power would seem appropriate.

Loscocco - invulnerability of about 3 seconds is what the OS has always had, at least prior to Reach (as I mentioned before, I haven't ever experimented or even picked it up much in Reach, because it was nerfed and isn't on any of the default maps). Personally if they just returned the thing to its pre-Reach glory, I'd take it over most mid-level weapons. I'd much rather have the overshield of CE or H2 over a needler. Hell, I'd rather have a CE overshield even if it didn't impart a few seconds of invulnerability - that's just gravy.

I beleive there are 5 shots in one clip for the Scattershot. Too much for that power.

Was it just me, or did the AR he was holding seem to have the old H3/H:Reach ammo counter on it?
