Prometheans are a (thought extinct) faction of forerunners, that thought they shouldn't use the Halo weapons, right?

I'm willing to wait for more info; I'm still sitting with halo.xbox.com as my fourth most viewed webpage I think...

I dunno. It just doesn't feel like the shooter I'm looking for. Fantastic looking game, but it's just not what I want in a first-person shooter anymore. It's not really the game's fault so much as my own tastes in the genre.

Though once again, I'm still gonna wait and hear 343i out. I will give them an audience (Ohoho!).

Your trickery will not work upon me.

yeah, of course its different and it's understandable for some not to enjoy that. I really don't thank the game is bad from what iv'e seen, its just a matter of what people look for. Halo 4 wont have that for many, while it will for just as many I think.

Also, these Prometheans seem to really mix it up with their quick, melee heavy attacking. I definitely want to see more of them soon.

Just noticed that at :42 in the "SmartGlass" Halo 4 video, that spartan shoots that "Rocket Pistol type thing again, and how else can you tell is that you can look up in the top right corner and you can guess the rest. But the game is looking spectacular and again you also see that snow map again ( I sense more enviorments )

I think the weapon redundancy has only been a problem since Halo 3 or even Reach. Guns like the AR and Plasma Rifle are not redundant because they both serve different purposes. The AR destroys health has a hard time with shields and the plasma rifle is the opposite.

Having weapons that aren't redundant get more and more difficult with the more factions you add to the game. Halo CE only had two factions with their own weapons so it was fairly easy. Halo 3 introduced more brute weapons so there was problems with redundancy with the spiker and mauler. For some reason Bungie decided to add more covenant weapons which ****ed everything up, IMO. 343 is going to have a tough time with this and I don't think they're going to be able to pull it off, but it's nearly impossible so I don't blame them.

It's too bad that we will not be seeing the multiplayer maps taken from the campaign because that tropical cave looks awesome.

Oh well, maybe we will see some MP maps based off of the campaign.

They said they weren't doing that, which is good. I want my campaign environments designed for campaign and my multiplayer environments designed for multiplayer.

All I was able to glean from that Spartan Ops spike exclusive thingy was that there will be 5 "season 1 episodes" and the gameplay seemed similar to firefight.

Hopefully people can pick it apart and find some new stuff like they always do.

After watching the campaign footage, I have to say I am really impressed by the innovation of 343 thus far. I was worried that since they were the new guys working with Halo 4, they would try to follow the classic Halo feel too strictly in terms of enemies and weapons, but they really outdid themselves in their opportunity to be innovative and creative. To me the new enemies seem like a good change to the old Halo. It's not just point and shoot, these guys have certain tactics that you have to learn. Also, the way those Forerunner weapons assemble is ****ing awesome. Fantastic job by 343 right there. I really thought I was going to be let down by the way the Forerunners would be portrayed in this game, but surprisingly my high expectations have been surpassed.

I think the Forerunner weapons we've seen, while functionally similar to other weapons like the SR and Shotty, still felt different in the footage we saw. Perhaps not the Scattershot (which felt incredibly similar to its human counter-part, though it had 5 rounds instead of 6), but the the Light Rifle seemed to have less of a zoom (x2 or so in the footage we saw, but it may have another level of zoom after that), 15 rounds in a clip, and a slightly larger reticule. I doubt this weapon will be anything like the SR, perhaps requiring at least 2 head shots for a kill and 4 body shots.

Yes, it is hard to have a large weapon sandbox without having many be slight alterations of existing ones, but the Light Rifle felt brand new and perhaps there's something about the scattergun we haven't seen yet to make it stand out from it's shotgun brethren. Also, that other weapon we saw iin the multiplayer trailer (semi-power weapon variant of the plasma rifle?) looks pretty sweet. It reminded me of a redesigned Brute plasma rifle with its fast overheating and powerful mid-to-close-range capabilities. Seemed like the bloom spread very quickly on that one, too.

I believe that the shotgun will be toned down to make it a viable starting weapon, and the scattergun will take it's place.

I really wish they would keep the weapon personalities the same. Maybe make the scattershot the weak one?

i dont think the light rifle is supposed to be like the sniper, but similar to the BR, DMR, and covey carbine. and i dont see why weapon redundancy is a problem, its just more options. pick the one you prefer.

There's also a fair amount of assumption going on to just compare weapons to other weapons based on what was shown. Perhaps certain enemies are more vulnerable to certain kinds of weapons thus giving every weapon specific purpose thus not redundant.

I don't care if weapons are redundant in single player. It's more of a multiplayer problem.
