The first picture looks lot like Halo 3.

On the second picture, the skins look not that noticible which may be a good thing. The logo on the forerunner gun looks horribly photoshopped and you can see that the gun has a design which may be customizable.

The third picture has a blend between the Halo 3 AR, a Halo Reach background, and Halo 4 MS armor.

So it's confirmed that is the railgun in picture 2? Is there any leaked footage on that gun? I'm really interested to see how it shoots

It's good to see some different helmets in-game.
And I'm pleased with the skins; they aren't as bad as I thought they'd be.

At first sight, I thought it was the railgun, but it may actually be the 'storm rifle'. The potato camera game play 'leak' showcased the railgun and has been described as a long range concussion rifle (brute shot, anybody?).

Long range wouldn't be it's ideal range, seeing as it doesn't have a scope. It can obviously be used as such, but will require more skill.

That second gun doesn't look anything like the Railgun, but then again that might have something to do with the skin.

Buuuut, I thought the gap in the barrell on the Railgun was longer, it looks more like a new shotgun to me.

if you are looking for footage, there is far more than that potato filmed video. Some of them are filmed with toasters, or better yet behind blurry glass. But worse than that some of them have got kill-cams edited in in an attempt to make people realise how generic halo is becoming.

    Oh wait...

I want to know what the "core" of Halo is, according to Frank and 343i. To me, it is everybody starting the game equal.

    Well, theres your problem

By which he means devolve it into something generic.

    The End.

Yeah, I really came to the same conclusion when they first revealed how the game was. That MS followed Activision and went for a successful formula that has grossed billions of dollars.

In any case, I'm glad they have multiple "campaign-long" seasons planned for Spartan Ops, if my inference is correct about the length.

if they have years planned out, I can't think that the quality will be massive. And from what Frank said I reckon will be premium DLC content.

Even still it looks quite cool.

well he said it was a loose narrative arc planned out. so I assume it's like normal game series development. im not too worried, at worst it'll be like spec ops, which im fine with.

I think that Spartan Ops will be a game mode using some stock maps and 343i will just place objectives and AIs to resemble small missions. Kinda comparable to forging Invasion/Infection Maps. That way they can make quite some levels easily and still have variation. Anyone get what I'm thinking? Does it sound good?

They are specific maps. If they could program AI onto stock maps, they would have just done FF.

@Artifact, Doubt it. I think they're gonna do missions from the ground up. They'll probably let you play 'season 1' for free and then when season 2 comes out we'll have to pay.

That campaign footage gave me chills! And those weapons (forerunner?) looked like a sniper/beam rifle and a shotgun.

To be fair to Frankie, there's a lot more to the core concepts of Halo than that one:

    - Each player has two weapons only. That was arguably Halo's biggest masterstroke and one of the first things that got people's attention and made the game so fun - trying to decide which two weapons to carry, and when to drop one in favor of something else with a different function or more ammo or whatever.

    - Basic combat consists of weapons, 'nades and melee attacks, with all three being fairly important and non-ignorable if you want to do well at the game.

    - The control scheme (aim on the right stick, move and strafe on the left) was another thing that set Halo apart from previous console shooters and was so successful that it immediately became pretty much the industry standard.

    - The weapon and vehicle set is essentially split between non-futuristic/non-sci fi human weapons (humans: we peaked technologically in the early 2000s!) and futuristic/sci fi covie weapons. This lets them give something of the feel of both science fiction and a more realistic, current-day military shooter.

    - Shields (regenerating) with underlying health (mostly non-regenerating) and motion trackers (even if MLG turns them off).

    - And of course: Spartans, the Covenant, beautiful and clean art design, and all that other world-building stuff.

Some of this stuff has been around so long and has been stolen by so many other games since CE that we kind of take it for granted. But it's still there - was in Reach, will be in Halo 4. I'm not delighted with the CODification of H4 either, but let's not get carried away: it's still arguably more Halo than not.

So the scattershot is a forerunner shotgun, and the lightrifle is some sort of single shot forerunner rifle.

I really like the direction they've taken, and the game looks beautiful.
