I could be wrong here, but I thought GAME was a UK based branch of Gamestop? I think the helmet on that armour set looks the best so far... but still, I want some traditional helmets available too :/ EDIT: Nope, I was wrong... we have our own GameStop.co.uk website.
I really do hope the armors are available through unlocking them... Or that'd make me a sad panda. So far in my opinion, amazon's seems the best but I do love that oceanic helmet. As of now, through some deductive reasoning and some screenshots, this is what I've found out so far: 1. there are three types of grenades 2. there are kickass jungles 3. you will still be fighting some elites 4. the "hard light shield" looks heavily like forerunner tech 5. there is a dmr AND a br 6. SNOW MAP!!!!! 7. graphics look orgasmic (obviously) 8. symbols for the objectives have been changed 9. there is a little menu for the flags on CTF; A, B, and C were clearly labeled and each was identified by color and state (home, away, stolen, ect) Some of this may be old news to you guys, but oh well.
Regardless of whether the problem is the map(s) or not, it's still an issue, so I'd disagree with your view that camping isn't too much of a problem in Halo. It's almost like saying "I don't think camping is too much of a problem in Halo if you only count good maps." I kinda get what you're saying, and I agree that it isn't a huge issue in the game overall, but things done to hinder it when designing new additions like Promethean Vision are still a good thing imo. Definitely agreed.
Can I just ask something... Why does it say the Limited Edition buyers get 9 exclusive multiplayer maps, with which 3 maps will be available for download post-launch? Does that mean we'll only be getting 6 maps shipped with the game and DLC will be out after like 3 months or something? That seems a little restrictive if you ask me :/ EDIT again: I've just looked on multiple sites and found the following with a bit more detail: So it looks like they've got 9 extra maps WIP with which you get for free with Limited Edition?
Im not sure about that. What I do know for sure is that LE buyers are essentially buying 3 future map packs, so 9 total maps. Maybe that's what you read?
I'm just going to shell out the extra cash for the behind the scenes bits. The map packs are obviously a bonus, however.
Tis very clever marketing. Everybody who would have bought legendary will still buy it, and those who couldt afford that won't be put off by not being able to afford the best, so see the limited as worthless. And it's more pricey than the normal limited. Very, very clever
This in every way possible. A true Halo fan will get the LE version. I fully expect someone to make a comment about this not being Halo anymore, so I present to them this.
That armor is going to be so, so rare, because I swear to god there are only about 5 GAME stores left in the UK.
I think the general consensus, which I was originally worried about as well, is that the exclusive armors and armor skins are going to be available at launch, or unlocked by everyone else after earning a certain amount of experience. Anywho, yeah, with the LE you're basically pre-paying for the three map packs they're dedicating themselves to release, plus some bonus irl swag. You're not really getting anything ahead of anyone else, you just automatically get the map packs when they're released.
Hopefully that's the case. I mean there is a possibility that those options could be excluded and the armors truly could b exclusive to those companies. There really isn't any evidence to the contrary other than what the past games have done but the past games weren't made by the same company.
343i finally found the appropriate name for the fish bowl helmet im assuming. I want to see all these armors in-game. To me, these luck really damn ugly. I'd prefer just wearing default or something. Default is badass anyway.
I suppose that's fair. Still, I don't see camping being too prevalent in many games I play on maps like Zealot or Boardwalk, and when I do see it, it is easily countered. I addressed this in another post somewhere on this site, where I said I believed camping to be a legitimate strategy (cwatididthar?) that simply needs to be balanced against other tactics like straight aggression and distance rifling so that each is usable by players who prefer that play-style but not dominant over others. I see this as being done through the map's design. That being said, I can't really say I have a problem with the ability, as it only further keeps camping in check, I just never really saw camping as a big enough problem in Halo to warrant new tools to fight it. The most common place I see hard camping that PV would prevent best is in low level play. So I guess it's kinda nice, but I don't really see too many benefits to it with my play-style. To each their own (although in my ideal Halo 4, I would say to each their own if you can earn it on the map).
Will any of you guys get the Special Edition just for the map packs, even though you're going in blind with no idea of whether the maps will even be good or not?
Yeah I might. I'm pretty sure 343 said that they're working with Certain Affinity on Halo 4's maps (I don't know if that means all of the maps, though), and they always end up making some of my favorite Halo maps like a lot of the Halo 2 DLC maps and the maps found in the Defiant Map Pack on Reach.
Flameblade: That is a leak... but I really, really hope it's made up as well. That actually sounds 100% like it's a COD game now too :/ Before I was hesitant to say that it's a COD remake, but that information cannot literally confirm it anymore. I'd be reluctant to believe it all though, so I'm going to have to remove it as it isn't confirmed information. Let's hope E3 dismisses all that information as false rumour.
Look at it this way. Without those maps, you're restricting yourself. I didn't think Reach's first map pack looked any good (And it really wasn't, IMO) but I still bought it so I had the full experience. The majority will end up buying these map packs, so why not get them now? It's a pretty cool way to handle DLC, IMO.
That info didn't make me feel any better. it sucks that they ****ed up bumper jumper suck. I still used it for MLG and non AA dependant playlists. It's useless now. Worse though, he said shotty was a starting weapon...wow. I was worried about that. Autoturret around corners, forerunner vision, radar available while scoping in...damn campers dream. Lol that needler is a weapon drop. I'm really disappointed to hear about faster shield recharge being available. So far most of the other things don't sound too much more balance shifting than AAs were in Reach. However, this can throw off timing pretty bad and create wasted efforts picking up 1-shots. Either that, or this really isn't an increase in speed but rather shield recharge was decreased across the board and this is just correcting things back to normal.
