Normally you would just hit Prnt Scrn to Copy your desktop, then Paste it in something like Paint and save it as an image. I prefer posting the wallpaper, though.

You install Rainmeter. It has some basic stuff such as date and time for your desktop. Then you install the skin Omnimo It's really customizable. I find it fun to work with.
Just about to start customising the icons with a sweet Tron style that I found on Deviantart. Also, laptop battery needs replacin'.
I have the exact same problem... just out of warranty, the battery ****s up. Nice wall, btw... and search around deviantart for a visual style theme to fit that wall, I figure there's one or two that fit into the tron style.
