Only with Legend of Korra are we seeing heavy use of CG integration, not only with the cars and zeppelins, but with entirely 3D environments that use projected 2D textures. As far as I could tell, most of TLA was 2D, with 3D being used primarily for vehicles, those air temple doors, and perhaps a few other things. I know all of the bending is hand-done in both TLA and Korra with shaders applied by computer in post.

Lots of anime series have been doing this, like HOTD, Strike Witches, HRSG and I even noticed some in Cowboy Bebop.

The one I remember most that uses heavy CG is Zoids, they've got some sweet 3D animation going and it fits in really well with the rest of the show.

I watched the first episode of Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt simply out of pure interested. I came away dying from laughter. The animation style is so different to other anime, it's very similar to some of the stuff you see on Cartoon Network these days, like The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. (Love that show).

It's so absurd and has some really silly humour and I love it. Also, it IS anime as it was created by the Japs, even though it's got a very western animation style.

Good god, Shinobu looks ****ing amazing in that. This coming from an avid believer that she is the best part of that franchise.

I had been wondering how they were going to do her adult form, not dissapointed.

I started watching Sora no Woto and am watching Paranoia Agent over again since I stopped watching it due to not being interested enough. Sora seems like it'll be normal... Paranoia Agent I already know requires me to pay attention to it to stay interested, and it heavily reminds me of Paprika, so it may be made by the same people.

I read up on a summary of Paranoia Agent, but it didn't sound too interesting. It seems like it's a very dialogue based anime, but I'll watch an episode nonetheless. Who knows, I might like it if it resembles Paprika.

In other news, I've started an anime title Hyouka, which was produced by the same people that produced Clannad. I've also been trying to finish Sayanara Zetsubou Sensei, which is made by Shaft.

I don't think I have ever seen Appleseed. I know I have the movie, but i've never watched it. I'm not a fan of the animation style, so I've been reluctant to throw it in the dvd player.

Everyone needs to watch Panty & stocking with Garterbelt.

It's so absurd and so funny. I think anyone with a decent sense of humour and an open mind would love it. It takes the basis of american cartoons and throws it completely out of the window, only using the animation style. Think Dexters Lab but with adult themes and references.

Dammit, the PMMM deaths are all either annoying or sad simply because you either don't expect them in the case of one and the other two don't deserve it. Still haven't finished the series so I'm hoping they come back, I liked **** quite a bit.

What does everyone here think of Motto To Love-Ru? I finished the first series last night and basketskate3 told me the second season is just like the manga.

The fact that number one died out of nowhere two episodes in kept me from caring, honestly. I could agree with this list on one of number six's deaths, though. She was my favorite :(

Zigywig, it follows the manga more closely and ends where To Love-Ru Darkness will start. The ending is lame in both, but Motto is much better.

I don't get why most people prefer manga>anime. I've never read a single manga book in my entire life, and I don't plan on doing so.

I don't get why most people like small purple dragons>pink elephants. I've never looked at a purple dragon in my entire life, and don't plan on doing so.

Personal taste man it doesn't have to make sense to you because quite frankly you do not matter when it comes to other people choosing what they do and do not enjoy.

Each episode of the second series has three parts, each linking to a book of the manga. I don't know how close if follows to the manga as I haven't read it but I'd assume so. There still isn't much of a set storyline apart from the fact that they (spoiler'd) but it's still a good watch and very enjoyable. Each character seems to develop a little more and you get some more of the true feelings of the characters towards Rito etc. Celine is cute as **** (not in a pedo way) and Momo is seriously kinky. (Do want).

You should watch it, I can provide a decent link if needed. (PM only)

people prefer the original material as opposed to the adaptation.

just like when books turn into hollywood movies, the original material is usually superior.

additionally, in regards to the earlier conversation about what animation style is better,

anime is definitely not very high on that list.
most anime has terrible animation, and they just use certain tricks of the trade to have it look okay. also, you'd be surprised how much is actually done in computers. probably a lot more than you all seem to think.

spurts of good animation mixed in with stills and pans =/= good

This because the original material always goes into furthur detail. In anime, they take linked chapters from the original, take out the most important parts, and compile them into a thirty minute segment. In my opinion, this causes any sort of development to seem rushed instead of gradual, as it should be. I think that is the reason individuals develop negative stereotypes about certain anime before they've read the original. I can tell you that To Love-ru's anime adaption is a joke compared to the manga, as with most other anime.

I agree, Celine is cute as ****.
