    this map is a arena two courtyards one with sword one with turret a shotgun room down a tunnel 2 bases with 4 or less weapons each this map works with CTF oddball and all slayer gametypes exept low gravity 4-16 players
    Weapons
    3 AR
    1 brute shot
    3 carbines Enjoy
    1 energy sword
    2 sniper rifles
    2 magnums
    1 plasma rifle
    2 BR

    Am I right in thinking that this map contains no interlocking at all?
    For information on how to interlock check out the Forging 101 area.
    All the maps that do well here at ForgeHub use interlocking, and unfortunately for you and this map most people will pass up the offer of playing on it.

    This map could potentially be a good map if you did use some of the Forging 101 techniques but because you haven't this map will not do very well at all.

    Also from what I can tell there seem to only be four areas you spawn at. If I understand the layout of your map correctly from these images. Hmm...

    I'm sorry but this map look very amature indeed, and that my friend is that...
    Nothing really needs to be said other than that.

    Work on trying to interlock, more spawn points and level design.​

    You need more interlocking for aesthetics and gameplay. the area with the double boxes looks really bumpy to walk on. However with some more practice and the forging 101 techniques you could probably make some pretty good maps.

    Reynbow, do NOT judge maps on whether or not they have interlocking. That is the most irritating and inept way of rating a map. Maps don't need interlocking to be good. Regardless of any map, whether or not I made it, TDF made it, a complete newbie made it, interlocking is not a requirement. It makes it look good, but it's not a necessity. You could suggest it, but the amount of fun a map exudes has absolutely no correlation to whether or not it has interlocking.

    Please take a look at the second last picture, does that look like fun to walk on?

    I never anywhere said that interlocking is a needed, but in this case it is. That floor would ruin any gameplay and that floor is needed to be interlocked if you are planning on walking on it...

    Don't go off at me just because I rate this map bad, if it's a bad map then it's a bad map. I feel this one is and I said it is. Don't get all high and mighty at me because of that.

    In this case I would think otherwise...

    It doesn't matter if it's fair or not, it's my opinion. Fair enough if you don't like my opinion, you don't have to. But this thread is supposed to entice people to download and play it. From what I can tell from the images and from your description I don't want to make this map take up a slot in my download limit. As all FHers know, those slots are only for the best maps. I don't want to risk wasting my time with a map if it doesn't look good enough.

    It's as simple as that, it's either this map or a better map. What would you choose?

    Nemi is right, you can't just sit there and demand interlocking (which you seem to do on EVERY map where there seems to be one tiny section without it).

    I agree, the map looks pretty sloppy, but give the guy a break ... generalising won't help.

    I will admit that i haven't played your map, ILAND, but from the 4 pictures you displayed, your map does look very sloppy.

    I see that you have used interlocking a little, but sparingly using it in a map such as this isn't really the ticket to a smooth playing surface, or gameplay.

    In the above image, you interlocked the two boxes in the bottom left and the ones just above it, but none of the others. Why is this? Taking that little extra time and effort to improve the rest would do wonders for the map.

    Your spawns also look very hap-hazard, which isn't a good thing. People will just spawn next to each other or spawn-camp, degrading the playing experience.

    You could do with posting more pictures to give a better over-all view of the playing area too.

    Reynbow posted a link to the Forging 101, which is an excellent place to find out all you need to know for your improvements.

    If you make a revision to this map, showing ample progress from the 101 teqchniques, i promise to review it properly.


    Finally, i'll point out that your Original post isn't really very descriptive or tidy, which can also put people off.

    Sorry if you feel that was a lot of negativity ... its more constructive criticism :) good luck!

  10. reynbow ive seen you on most threads and i usually agree if it is a realy bad map dont be mean but give him suggestions on what he could improve and how to do it please interlock that would be great so please look at other maps like mine look at the interlocking and find out how to get better

    IMO this map has great potential! with a littel re-aranging of the spawn points and some cover....i think the map will be great...(to comment on all others comments) yes interlocking makes a map look great and play smooth but if the creator is going for a rough and rugged feel this would be fine....keep on forgin!

    it looks like you just threw the spawn points into a spot and it needs inter locking although good job on the idea

    btw there are other spawn points to make spawn killing less i did not have enough room to take screens for all of the map

    guys give him constructive critecism here
    yes interlocking would help and more spawns would help
    interlocking floors at least is a must because
    1 they are hard to walk on otherwise_-_-___-_
    2 grenades get stuck in the cracks |.|

    and you might want to put a bit more cover in your map
    it has potential but unfortunatly just that.

    looks good but i wont yell at you for inter locking because i only interlock when absolutly needed ...
