Before panties start getting wadded, more info from that link: "However, the bloom reset much faster than the DMR in Halo Reach. I didn't have to pace my shots much at all. Both the DMR and BR were 5-shot weapons in this build. At the end of the night, I preferred the DMR. It shot faster than the BR, took the same amount of shots to kill, and I didn't feel like the bloom made me miss shots all that often." And they're still tuning weapons, so... let's not assume the bloomsanity of vanilla Reach is returning. (Call of Bloomo: Future Spartan Point Drop Loadout Pod Noob Wars With Extra Bloom! ...There, I got it out of your system for you.)
That would be a torrid idea. Because we KNOW that there will be whole teams who refuse to play, or will do whatever they can to steal a kill on the 10, 20 or whatever(eth) point. Just like camping with snipers Just like camping in general Just like reforging haeommarhage just with a secret base on the top with lots and lots of snipers and power weapons and then being upset when people say DAFUQ?>>?
.... that is the stupidest thing I've seen them release if it's true. I mean, all of us, a bunch of people that simply enjoy playing a video game thought of at least three perfectly good solutions to having both the guns in the same game, but no. I'm beginning to think that they aren't actually "Making Choices" like most of us believed, and instead they simply have not a ****ing clue what they are doing.
Likewise. I don't mind 85% at all. A hair less bloom than that would be probably my ideal (at least in the context of Reach... who knows exactly how H4 will play, or how its weapons will feel). [br][/br]Edited by merge: It's second-hand information (not from the developer themselves) from somebody who was hands-on with the game for a very limited time, and they admitted up front they're playing a game that will still be tuned before release. Let's not get too worked up.
Obviously this was just a quick idea thrown out there. I'm sure 343i has, and will continue to spend a lot more time figuring out a way for this to work properly. Everything you said starting with, "Just..." has nothing to do with anything I said. Besides, only casuals who care about hogging power weapons would care about getting to call in the weapon drop if what I mentioned were how it worked (I can guarantee it won't be). Competitive players would think, "Oh, I got that kill. Hey team, what should I call in?"
I don't like bloom at all as it is implemented. Even if it is smaller bloom, it may be better but you're still going to get that unlucky shot every now and again that costs you a life because the game rolled that small chance that you miss. 85% is better but that basically just makes everyone spam because the reset is still too long to balance spam and spamming is still reasonably accurate because of the reduced bloom. If they're making it less random, why keep bloom at all? Besides punishing you once in a blue moon, even smaller bloom really does nothing to add to the game. None or a reworked system that actually punishes spamming 100% of the time. /minirant Other than that, the post did calm my feelings towards Halo 4 a bit. Still hate the idea of jetpacks and a few other things, but I'll wait and see.
The main thing I think it would do is force pacing shots over long distances, where spamming is actually ineffectual and most shots miss if the reticule isn't completely shrunk. As a BTB fan, I do see the need for this. But the whole conversation about ways to do bloom better is one I'm not anxious to re-live.
So now people over at neogaf are thinking that the DMR's bloom is actually now just a visual cue on when you can fire. Like Reach's sniper rifle for instance.
That's Prothean..Promethean is a term from the books. Why is it though that every new tidbit of info just makes things sound worse and worse? There has been literally nothing since they announced the BR was back that has made me say "oh well, thank god at least that'll be good".
Well when you already start hating something it's hard to get yourself out of it I take it the gorgeous campaign screens, what has been revealed regarding infinity, what has been revealed regarding spartan ops (deal with the name), all just skipped over your head huh. But no, all bad things, I agree.
If it wasn't obvious enough for you yet, he's clearly talking about multiplayer. Now stop being a **** about it.
Yes, clearly. Even though the word multiplayer hasn't been said...in fact at all by anyone. Obviously when someone says "every" they mean "every" only in this smaller subset. And over you've been far from saintly in this thread or should I compile your gems in the thread? Nice images @cluckinho
Pretty much everything about the campaign is good and everything about multiplayer ranges from worrisome to awful. Which is fine.
Really? While I really don't want to bash 343, this is beyond ridiculous. I try to remain optimistic but every little detail that comes out dims my faith in 343i and the direction Halo multiplayer is going. DOWNHILL. However I am still pumped for campaign and forge, lets hope 343 can make them worthwhile.
I dislike the credit system as it is in reach. However, that's not to say that system can't work. They just need to put a the majority of credit weight into winning and things that help your team win instead of giving them out for participation(or just sitting idle in the game for said "participation" credits). For instance, kills in slayer should give you kore credits than kills in ctf, but you will be able to rack up bonus points for captures and flag carrier kills. I think if winning gets you a considerably large bonus, game will be more competitive even with all this talk of casualizing the game I'm slightly optimistic that they are thinking this way. I remember them saying something in the podcast about getting rewarded for your medals
