I made my first Portal 2 map using Valve Hammer Editor. It's not the best looking map and I've made some modification to it already. I'm really just interested in the gameplay at this point. Portal 2 Map - Catch & Drop - YouTube Feedback appreciated!
Not bad, seemed a little too easy though. Maybe if it were a lead in level to some harder ones. Who am I to talk though, I've never made a Portal level so I don't know how difficult it would be. I have played both games to death though, so it would be nice to get a go at creating one to show how my ****ed up mind works. Probably wouldn't be worth getting it just to make levels as I already have it on 360, though. :\ Doesn't matter how it looks, by the way, just how it plays.
This chamber is really easy and it's supposed to be that way since you only have one portal. I own the 360 version as well but I bought it on the PC just to play custom maps and make my own using the Hammer Editor. Totally worth it in my opinion, but it might be a different story for you
I could probably download it off Steam as it's only $20, but I've got too much happening right now to pour time into something like this. When I eventually get around to being able to do this though, Portals time in the sun will probably have come to an end.
How is the map sharing community for Portal 2? Is it pretty active? How organized is it (IE Bungie's fileshare system)? How easy is it to DL and play others' maps? Also, how is the Hammer editor? Can you pretty much make any type of map you want? Or is it sort of limited? Can you use all of the gels?
Don't get me wrong, it'll always be a classic, but if I ever get around to making maps for it it will be likely only for my benefit, as the download scene for it will be somewhat diminished.
Here is another map I just made. Since you thought the other one was a bit too easy I thought that this might suit you guys better Portal 2 - Funnel Paradise - YouTube
