Well for one, I plan on getting back into Forge. Two, I may be inclined to remake some maps (especially when I can't think of anything). Perplex played well for FFA and I really want to give vertigo another chance. And three, I hope to forge asymmetrical/vertical maps, whether it's 1v1/2v2/4v4. I only forged two (released one) in Reach, so I hope things work out for me in Halo 4.
Its hard to think of future ideas without knowing much about the new forge engine. If its a similar style to Halo 3 and Halo Reach forge then i'll probably revisit some of my older maps which were limited by the engine. If its a completely new engine, perhaps similar to the FC Editor, then I shall probably never look back.
Finally releasing Patrician Hunt... awww yeahhh. It was a custom game I play-tested over a few months but never built the map for, as it was originally meant to be a proof of concept on Sword Base and soon blossomed into multiple three-hours-long sessions on various default maps. Had quite a few people ask me if they could make a map instead so that it'd finally come out. It was designed almost as an alternate version of clue, or specifically how I play clue. I was extremely worried it wouldn't transfer to Halo 4, but they have all the stuff I need for the gametype confirmed (armor abilities really), and assuming certain small things don't change (which have been constant since H3) I don't think I'll have an issue porting it over. I also have a few other mini-games that are in various stages of completion (almost all of them are finished) that were well-received, but rely on small tweaks to Reach's engine to make them play exactly how I had envisioned them, hence them not being released. I'm hoping Halo 4, at the very least, has all the options from Halo 3 and Halo Reach without removing anything, and maybe fixing some long-standing issues (which I doubt :C) but we'll see.
I'm gonna remake The Pit on the first day the game is out so that I can finally get a map on MLG's circuit. Best. Map. Ever. Aside from Onslaught of course...
I've got a few designs that may work, a space rocket and a design for a docking port. That's all though, I dont think multiplayer will be fun though, as they threw out my favorite gametype, Invasion, because they threw out elites for multiplayer
I might try reforging Arca, Nomad, Sequence or something like that, just to get a hang of the tool and to get some solid maps up quickly for 1v1s. Will probably end up actually being pretty bad, or rendered bad eventually because of being outdated, and in need of a reforge, like with Arca. Or if I ever finish any of my own designs I'm probably going to try to forge those on there.
I would like to see some more interactive things already built and maybe make it almost like far cry as in you can choose from various different locations without having to put death barriers
Yea don't do that. Please. It's just I'd rather have the respective authors either reforge it themselves or just not see it reforged at all. It's nothing personal as it's basically something I would tell to anyone who would say the same thing. As for my own plans, I plan on just remaking Halo/Quake maps and maybe some of my own maps at first just to get a hang of the palette. The last thing I want is to forge a map in the first month that I would be ashamed of 3 months later because I didn't approach the palette efficiently or something along those lines. Once I get the hang of it I might transfer some of my really really good WIPs I have atm sitting around like Dropkick, Petrichor, and Downrush. As for forged maps of my own that I'd like to revive in H4: The aforementioned three, Cladite, a rehauled Preserve, and possibly a more proper Sierra, even though I'd like to forget about that map entirely. I'd also like to bring my Elimination gametypes and maps back in H4 but without visible Health it might be DOA.
I hope they keep some of the structures actually, just update them. The same buildings from Halo 2's Lockout can be used in Forge, why take them out now? It would really bother me if they went from having forerunner structures to military-like objects.
me like every halo game will restart at forge unless i get demands for a certain map but if we can get doors etc that opperate you will see more city maps from me ;P
I will probably transfer my map Valkarie to Halo 4 after I look at the tools and structures. Then I will just see what brain wants me to do.
I'll play with the new stuff, and see what I can do with It. Possible, if the Framerate issues like in Reach came back, I'll probably start to make more Funny based and competitive maps. But trying to explore the Forerunner Layout in everything maybe.
Yeah, I know, but it's not like I wouldn't check with Solo and NeXn before I did it. Blatatntly just stealing them would be very rude, and I wouldn't do that. I think I know, at this point, how NeXn would feel about me remaking Arca though, so I'm most likely going to do that. If he would ever be online anywhere I'd try to talk to him a but that happens not to be the case. I'd love to see and try to contribute to the Elim gametypes returning as well. Could be really cool if we can have 2 AAs, like I've heard we will. But yeah, there's the lack of a static health system that appears to be ruling that out. Oh, and you need to give me the latest version of Downrush, Shawn.
Well depending if I can find some solid inspiration I be making bigger more in depth maps. If no, I will rebuild fraternal.
^^ same tbh it depends what the forge is like and how much more in depth we can go with it than reach which I hope is alot
