Welcome fellow Forgehubbers. Today I would like to present to you the Holdout I Map Pack. Holdout is an Infection Minigame that I have created, which sees a single Survivor defend a room from the Infected over the course of 3 minutes. This may not sound difficult, but each map involves tactical decisions that must be made by both sides, and which are unique to the map. Make the wrong move and you may suddenly find that the going gets very tough. The Player count for this Gametype is between 2-4 Players. I'm making both of the maps included in the package with the aim of not using any Forgeworld Structural items in any of the maps, and creating a totally unique experience with each map. The first map is named "Sector 72A", and it's the only Forerunner map in the pack. It's where 3 corridors intersect, and a player is challenged with holding off Infected from all sides. Difficulty: Easy. The second map is "Weightless", which is set in a sealed-in Munitions Bay inside a UNSC Space Station. The Infected emerge from a main Vent located in one of the walls, and they have the advantage of zero-gravity over the Survivor. Difficulty: Hard. I will also be working on the Holdout II Map Pack after the release of these maps, and will create the following maps, if all goes to plan: The third Holdout map will be "Shutdown", a UNSC Nuclear Facility that has long been under Covenant control. Difficulty: Medium. The fourth and quite probably final map will be called "Cold Stone", a derelict Mine set underneath the desolate Tundra of Reach. Players can expect a chilling experience as this will be the most difficult map to survive on. Difficulty: Insane. I may start to open up testing sessions soon when I complete more maps, so if you're interested in helping test any of the maps, comment below and I'll make a note of it. Sorry for the picture quality. Thanks for reading.
okay sounds good but upload pics by takin a pic on ur cmaera (i know it wont be the best quality but better than nothin) and odviously upload em like normal and at lease then it gives us a brief idea and tha but the concept sounds realy good cant wait to see it
Like I said, I can't get hold of a camera at the moment, and one of the maps is already made, it's not just still in the idea stage. [br][/br]Edited by merge: I've managed to finally get a few Screenshots. [br][/br]Edited by merge: One more thing; Players will need the Noble Map Pack and the Anniversary Map Pack to play all four maps. They'll need the Noble Map Pack to play Weightless and Cold Stone, and the Anniversary Map Pack to play Sector 72A and Shutdown.
Amazing, this map is the first Good map I have seen on anchor 9, also I love the excruciating detail on high noon. 10/10.
Attempt argument much? These maps sure are a sight for the sore forge eyes. Although they're very limited in size (since 343i apparently hasn't heard our pleas for more forge palettes) they do feature a very original look and some interesting new ideas. I definitely believe a zero G, spacestation themed map would be cool (if possible). Good work.
Thank you. The size of the maps isn't ideal, as I know, but the gametype for the maps means that they still play well. Concerning Weightless, the Infected are exposed to full zero-g, and many times in tests a Zombie has spent up to about 30-40 consecutive seconds floating around, without touching down, before they are killed. [br][/br]Edited by merge: There's now some Weightless gameplay on my File Share, featuring invisible Zero-G Zombies, explosions, lasers and even a slightly confused Survivor. What more could you want in a map? Except possibly a Rainbow Cannon?
Oh and be sure to look out for my gamer tag in those clips; i'm sure you'll know who I am.... (trollface)
WAY PICTURES and i am not disapointed, they look great fun especialy the first one, then again i love the idea of zombies comming from all places but yeah looks great
At the moment, I'm afraid I have no clue. I started both maps about a week ago. I also have quite a tendency to not let go of maps until they're as good as I can make them. I might also make the Holdout II maps and just release one large Map Pack when the Fileshare situation is over. If not, the Holdout I Map Pack might be released in about a month, maybe a bit longer.
Just thought that I'd mention that I've begun work on the third Holdout map, Shutdown. The map will be making use of UNSC Forge objects only, and will feature a few dynamic utilities which the Survivor will have at his disposal. Sector 72A and Weightless are, of course, still in progress.
Very nice, if you sign up forcmy BIOC lobby again next time, bring these maps, have them ready. I doubt everyone will have DLC but you never know! keep up the good work I like your use of uncharted territories in reach maps.
Thank you, and I'd love to sign them up for BIOC, but unfortunately it's drawing very close to the end of the holidays for me, and progress on the maps will slow down very drastically. Right now both maps are in early Alpha stages, but when they eventually reach Beta stages I'll submit them to the BIOC Sign-Up thread. That is, if the 4-Player Max limit isn't a problem. I'd definitely like to get the maps tested though, Weightless is a very special map to me, and it's the first map that I've seen in Reach with true Zero-G, the likes of which I think are completely unique.
